“So convenient, so efficient”
Reviewed December 31, 2009

Had to stopover in Bangkok on the way to Bhutan and back from Bhutan. We did not want to have the hassle or to chance a journey into and out of the city, so a hotel near the airport was the only way.

It just so happened that the Accor hotels was offering a 'sale' and the Airport Novotel was the choice. It is as near to the airport as you can get.

Upon arrival, go to exit gate no. 4 and there is a counter just beside the entrance (inside the airport). The hotel operates a shuttle service. We have made use of it many times and there is always a shuttle van all the time. They ferried us back to the hotel (which was a 3 minute ride) and the check in was quick. We had a child below 16 and an extra bed was offered for free. Up came our baggage and within 5 minutes of our entereing the room, the extra bed arrived.

The setting is beautiful and everything is new. Like a previous poster said, and I agree, it could well have been in the category of a Sofitel. Although we were only there on transit, it felt like a holiday destination already. You won't be able to tell that you are actually in the vicinity of a major airport. The shuttle drivers know exactly where to send (the gate) you to check in for your flight.

And, if you do not wish to eat at the hotel, you can always hop onto the shuttle and go back to the airport which has a array of food outlets, including the local food court at the end of the airport terminal building (below check-in row W) on the lower bround floor.

I suppose because it is an airport hotel and most people have a schedule to keep, everything here is clockwork. We liked it. It could not have been any better.

I booked this hotel since our flight was arriving at BKK at around midnight, and I didn't want my wife's family (who live there) to have to make the trip out that late. After 19 hours of air travel, without any sleep whatsoever for myself, this hotel, roughly five minutes from the airport by shuttle, was a welcome oasis. Although a bit pricey compared to other establishments, the rooms were very comfortable. The room itself was well-insulated from nearby airport noise, the king bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom featured nice furnishings, including toiletries (for those of you in transit) as well as both a bath tub and a shower.

The breakfast buffet was not included in the room, but we opted for it the next morning, and it was quite good. When visiting buffets, I advise travelers both at home and abroad to keep an wary eye on food preparation and storage in buffet situations. The food here appeared to be well-prepared and served in a safe manner (I contracted food poisoning about two weeks later at a different hotel in town).

Overall, this hotel is a good stop for folks with late arrivals or early departures, as well as possibly those who have lengthy layovers.

Great rooms, great location to airport. Shuttle to pick and drop off at airport - really quick and just turn up at the shuttlebus dont need to book,
Lobby is amazing. Rooms fab. Execultive club room and breakfast nice, no afternoon snacks or drinks but private check in good.
Fantastic pool - only thing is that they could benefit from one of those swimming costume dryers in the changing rooms - since it is an airport hotel most people would need to dry them quickly.
Would definately stay here again.

We were arriving on a late flight from Hanoi and leaving for Phuket at lunch time so to save the hassle of taxis to and from the airport I decided to try the Novotel, the only real airport hotel at Suvarnabhumi. I opted for an Executive Premier Floor room having stayed at other Accor group hotels in the past and enjoyed the additional benefits. For a small cost over a standard room rate you get private check in, access to their business lounge, free Wi-Fi, complimentary evening cocktails, discounted spa, express checkout and breakfast in the lounge. The room was comfortable and spacious with a nice bathroom.

I booked the cheapest deal I could get online but it was still quite expensive for Thailand, you have to expect to pay a premium for the location, but the standard was higher than I expected for a Novotel and I would have thought no different had it been branded as a Sofitel. I could have happily stayed for longer and enjoyed the lovely swimming pool.

I arrived at Bangkok airport at around 9:30pm and waited for about 5 minutes for the hotel shuttle to pick up. We're booked there because we need to travel to Rayong and Trat early morning the next day and continue to Cambodia, so no point staying in Bangkok. Hotel staff are nice and helpful upon arrival. We're treated in a special room (business center) upon check in as we're booked as a group.

Room is nice and spacious, bathroom is great, especially with the transparent glass window that could look through to the bed room (I never seen other hotel with such design before). Room is very clean and well equipped. My only disappointments are that wifi in room was not free and the rate is a bit expensive for a less than 10 hour stay.

Buffet breakfast is variety and plently of food. It'd be better if the hotel has a direct walkway connected to the airport similar to the one at Changi in Singapore rather than taking the shuttle, which might not be very pleasant for late arrival passengers.

Service was always polite and efficient. Only wait time was at check out in the morning and even then it was only for about five minutes. Room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Pool was lovely for relaxing although it could do with some more loungers. Breakfast buffet was plentiful and there were options there to suit most tastes. Will use this hotel again if stopping over for one or two nights.

Tip: If on a strict budget or at the end of your trip follow the advice of a previous reviewer and eat meals at the airport rather than the hotel. Less than half the price of the hotel and depending on which eatery you choose can be around the same quality. Just exit the rear of the hotel and walk through the car park across the road to reach the airport - taking the shuttle takes longer than walking!
