“Exceptional boutique hotel”

This beautiful gem on a lovely quiet beach on the south coast is a great place to stay. Rooms are large, high quality linens, with a huge outdoor bathroom and a great patio space for cocktails and watching the sunset over the ocean. Food and service is probably some of the best on the coast. Chef is talented using all local fresh ingredients (SEAFOOD!!) and staff is exceptional at taking care of your needs. The pool is as incredible to look at as it is to swim in with an infinity view framed in palms and Frangipani straight out to the ocean. Great sunrise and sunset walks on the beach. Wonderful place to stay in all aspects!

Room Tip: Hawksbill 1 on the end is quiet and more private.

A great boutique hotel run by a strong management team. Others have commented about the concrete construction, outside bathrooms and lack of tea/coffee facilities in the room so I’ll stick to how we felt during our stay. Justyna and Wojtek made us feel very welcome from the minute we arrived. The staff were ever present without being overwhelming. The kitchen produced excellent food and our dinner on the last night was specially prepared by the chef. In fact the staff is always keen to take orders earlier in the day to allow the chef to properly prepare the food and develop flavors. Take them up on the offer.

This hotel will be at the top of our list when we return to Sri-Lanka. So much nicer and more personal than a 200 room hotel plagued by tour buses irrespective of the brand or name,

We ended a two week tour of Sri Lanka at this lovely hotel. The atmosphere is welcoming and very relaxed. The rooms are light, clean and airy and the whole place has a very homely feel.

The outside bathroom was great. Very romantic. The only problem was mosquitos if I chose to soak in the tub after sun down - perhaps I just needed to take a Gin and Tonic in with me!

The food was absolutely delicious - although note there is no wine on the menu - just beer and spirits. And surprisingly no tea and coffee facilities in the rooms, which means you need to ask each time you want a cup of tea (for us, many times a day!) However, the staff are excellent - very helpful and happy to organise packed lunched, breakfasts etc. as well as keep you topped up with tea.

It's a shame you can't swim in the sea here, but it's nice to have the sand and waves at the end of the beautiful pool.

You could spend days relaxing here, eating, drinking and reading, but the joy of this hotel is that you can also visit the lively city of Galle, which is just a short TukTuk ride away. Here there are lovely bars, restaurants and shopping, all set in a beautiful colonial town - we thoroughly enjoyed this, as we found there was nowhere else in Sri Lanka that this was really possible.

Anyway, a fabulous place. I would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at the Frangipani Tree for two nights during our recent trip to Sri Lanka. It was absolutely beautiful and just what we were hoping for. We arrived late afternoon after a long day, and were greeted warmly by the lovely managers. We were brought refreshing chilled juice and shown to our room (Olive Ridley first floor). It was amazing, better than I had imagined - I had spent ages agonising about which room to book beforehand, and I chose well! The room has huge windows on all 3 sides with uninterrupted views of the sea, beautifully framed by palm trees. The view from the shower was particularly unforgettable! The 4 poster bed was comfy, and falling asleep to the sound of the waves was heaven. We had dinner one night and the food was wonderful (try the lobster), and the chef packed us a takeaway breakfast the next morning as we had to set off at 5am for whale watching. The hotel is wonderfully situated on a small beach, close by tuktuk to Unatawuna beach, and half an hour's drive from Marissa, and we also went to Jungle beach nearby which was fun and off the beaten track. We would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for peace and relaxation in natural surroundings with a contemporary edge. I only wish we'd been able to stay for longer!

After exploring Sri Lanka for a week, with our amazing guide Ananda (from Columbus Tours) we (family inc 3 and 7 year olds girls) were dropped off at The Frangipani Tree. What a beautiful sight as the wooden gates opened...rolling grass lawns, coconut trees (and of course Frangipani Trees) infinity pool over looking sea and beautiful, high ceiling , open and cool rooms. The hosts are lovely, the service is perfect (not too much, not too pushy but always there) and great food.
They have a sister hotel in Galle old town so you can go into town sightseeing, take the kids and cool off in the pool at the sister hotel or tag team with one of you hanging with the kids in the pool while the other explores and shops!! Highly recommended

We stayed at The Frangipani Tree in September for 5 nights and I can highly recommend this beautiful boutique hotel.
It's close to everything by Tuktuk but has still his own tranquil garden, pool and sea views to relax and just being away from the crowds.
The food is amazing and I can highly recommend anything on the menu. Especially the fish burrito! If you don't stay at the hotel, go there for lunch and enjoy an afternoon at the pool!
I can also recommend to have dinner at their sister hotel "Fort Printers" in Galle - I had the best fish (sashimi and the main dish catch of the day) I ever tasted! It's just 15min away by Tuktuk and worth a visit!
We would stay there again - without any doubts. Thanks again to all the staff and everyone there - they made our stay very special.
