Okay, a nice hotel if you first came in. All clean and pretty new. But what happend with the atmosphere?

Not cosy, not the fibes you would expect (for the price). A bit too much focused on the Russians.

Rooms: nice, spacious, but again made for the Russians. Alcohol and "art", bathroom with a ordinairy jacuzzi (very cheap product). But, to be honest, it was all working and clean. Just a matter of taste.

Minus: keep the bathroom door closed, as there is a open window to the hall, with lots lots lots of noise. Why an open window??? (Not transparant btw).

Minus: the new hotel (!) has nice balcony's, but the doors do not close. So also there noise from outside, the street and ocean. Strange...

Minus: sunbeds are nice, nut no shadow option.

Plus: Friendly people, and in for a laugh. We find the staff a positive thing.

Resume: too much money, which makes your expectations high. Lower the price by 30/40% and its okay.

It's all about the details. The hotel rooms are spacious and they have 12 varieties of tea and a special "pillow menu" with four different types of pillows for a better night's sleep. Our room had a lovely shower and a hot-tub bath, and a lovely balcony overlooking their private beach. At welcoming the offer drinks, a delicious tropical fruit basket and cake. The restaurant offers pretty good food. The design of the hotel is gorgeous. I wish we could have stayed here longer.

The only potential drawback is that it's a bit away from Unawatuna beach, which could be a good thing if you want to get away from the hustle and noise .

We stayed here last week for 4 nights on our honeymoon and we had the most incredible time. We stayed in a Sea Escape Deluxe Room, it was enormous and being on the first floor we had a beautiful view of the beach from our balcony. The food here was amazing and very reasonably priced. The European style al a carte menu was welcome after a week of the traditional Sri Lankan buffets we had in other hotels. We also highly recommend the happy hour cocktails!! The staff were beyond excellent and really paid attention to all the little details - when we arrived we had honeymoon flowers on our bed, the chef surprised us with a delicious heart shaped "happy honeymoon" cake with our names on it and on our first night they had reserved a decorated table for us at dinner. We loved that this place is right on the beach, it is so nice sitting in a sun lounge facing the ocean rather than a pool. The water at the Unawatuna Beach is a bit nicer (and only a short tuk tuk ride away) however be warned it is very crowded and a jet ski crashed into my head whilst we were there bathing less than 10 metres from the shore. Coco Bay were excellent and arranged for a doctor to come to our room in the middle of the night when I needed medical care after the accident.

The only thing we were really unhappy with was the lack of sun lounges. There were only 13 lounges on the beach which wasn't nearly enough for all of the guests staying there as the hotel has about 12 rooms and was booked out. There were a few families staying with kids who quickly filled up most of the lounges. The other guests would also "reserve" the lounges with their belongings early in the morning and then leave their lounges vacant literally for hours and come and go as they pleased. We thought this was really unfair as often all lounges were reserved but empty when we wanted to use them. We paid a lot of money to stay here to specifically relax by the pool/beach & were disappointed that we often had to retreat to our balcony instead because there wasn't anywhere to lie down. 2 lounges are also provided for each of the rooms with the private pools however the people staying in these rooms were understandably using the common lounges facing the beach instead leaving their pool lounges vacant. Coco Bay really needs to get more lounges or at the very least implement a policy where people have to give up the lounges when they are not using them rather than "reserving" them and not using them for the majority of the day.

All this aside we had an amazing time and hope to see more lounges when we return!

Room Tip: We had Room 101 and loved it because it was right down the end away from the restaurant and very pri...

This place was absolutely amazing. I stayed for 4 nights with my family and the staff made us feel so comfortable and the ambiance was incredibly relaxing. The beach was a private, so we were a bit secluded which was nice so we werent hassled by beach vendors, but it was also close enough to the center of Una so we were free to walk around and look at all the shops and leave if we felt like it. Also, the food was superb. Never wanted to leave.

There is nothing I can fault in terms of this resort. The staff are friendly, the rooms are spacious and well kitted out and the bathrooms of very high standard. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at CocoBay. The only gripe is that is a bit secluded and to go to any other bars or restaurants or beaches you have to take a tuk tuk. The beach is nice but not as nice as the other beaches which is a short drive away. I think if you staying for a long period of time this is ideal as it offers you comfort and the luxury and also some good down time away from the busy and crowded beaches.

I seriously cannot recommend the staff any more, they were always so helpful, friendly and tried to accommodate your every want!

We loved our stay at CoCo Bay. The rooms were a great size ( we had two with three in one and two in the other) and really nicely furnished. Little extras like bed turn down, huge spa bath, robes etc made it great and the balconies overlooking the ocean were perfect. Hotel had good wifi ( after very average wifi in most of the rest of Sri Lanka), hot water ( also hard to get in the country as a whole) but the staff made it a really ideal destination. Warm, helpful and always concerned and interested - made us feel very special across Christmas. I loved the pool table for my teenagers too. The food, especially at dinner, was really impressive and catered to all tastes. Initially we were disappointed not to be on Unawatuna Beach....until we went there and found it dirty and crowded where our beach was almost a private one - quiet, clean and calm. A great four day stay to finish our holiday.
