This was by far the highlight and best stay of our trip to Sri Lanka in early August.
The suites are very tastefully furnished and all of them have a view of the beach, the sea and in the distance Galle Fort. All of them also have a jacuzzi that looks out at the scenic view. The resort is located on a semi-private beach and the sunrise + sunsets are definitely something to look out for.
Reny (GM), Bishan (F&B Manager) and their teams offer one of the best examples of Sri Lankan hospitality I have experienced, after touring the central and western parts of the country. From the greeting by name when you arrive, to their sincerity in making sure you are enjoying your holiday ("Just tell us what you need, and we will settle it for you"), to the effort that the staff take to remember your breakfast order preferences, and even the proactive and friendly (but non-intrusive) questions when you return to the resort or tanning on the beach, this is a team that's clearly taken their training on hospitality to heart.
Try their BBQ menu if you have the chance to OR make sure your stay includes a Saturday, where that's the dinner menu on offer. The half-board option provides breakfast and a 4 course dinner that in my opinion, is more than worth the price. They also provide pretty good wines at decent prices.
This is definitely a place I would come back to again, just to unwind, chill and perhaps celebrate a birthday or anniversary.
CoCo Bay is also a pretty good location to use as a base if you are planning to visit Galle Fort, Sea Turtle Hatchery, Unawatuna Beach, Whale + Dolphin watching at Mirissa and if you aren't against a 3 hour drive one way, you can even leave in the morning for Yala National Park.
Galle Fort is a short 10 minute Tuk-tuk ride away; the front desk will call one for you. Prices range between 400 - 500rs one way. Negotiate with the driver to pick you up at the same location and you can be assured that the driver will remember the way back.
