“Shame on Sri Lankans for leaving garbage everywhere!!!!”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

Would have been a beautiful little beach... Unfortunately Sri Lankans don't feel the need of taking their picnic rubbish back with them. There are plenty of bottles (even broken glass!), plastic bags etc. The restaurant also doesn't bother about keeping it clean... They pile up the rubbish and burn it (and this is supposed to be a wildlife sanctuary). I have seen a SL family having a very big picnic and then leaving everything behind :( I noticed that SL citizens don't care about keeping their coutry clean (they throw garbage from bus and car windows :/) SHAME SHAME SHAME on you Sri Lankans!!!
Practical info: there are actually two Jungle beaches and two restaurants. You can access them by taking a rocky path. The JB closer to the pagoda is probably beter for snorkeling, but there are many urchins, so be carefull :)

“Crushed coral reef”
Reviewed March 4, 2014 via mobile

Beautiful beach in a quiet cove and a snorkeling attraction, but the reefs are in a sad state. Dead and chrushed by guest walking all over and water scooters soaring thru them up on the beach. You can still see a lot of colorful fishes and the beach is wonderful. The walk there from the main road is nice thru the herbal mountain.

“Good”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

Nice beach with clear water and places with shadow. Cafe (note that they cook very slowly). But no toilet.
Half an hour pleasant walk from Unawatuna.
Advice: there are 2 beaches there, you'll need to go a few min further to the big beach.
