We stayed for 9 nights in August and had an amazing stay. Hibiscus Villa is perfectly located to explore the other beaches around Unawatuna. Make the most of them if you have more than a few days there! Ajith can recommend them and a friendly tuk tuk driver to take you there and pick you up. Breakfast every morning was great - much better than anywhere on the beach and very relaxing ... even with the monkeys watching us from above one morning! The rooms are comfortable, very clean and quiet. We didn't get disturbed from the weekend beach discos. All in all, a home away from home and a very relaxing holiday. Ajith is an amazing host and all the staff were really friendly. Thank you!

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely. the front rooms have secluded porches but there is also a comfy sofa in th...

Our plan was to stay 2 night there and we ended staying four nights. Ajith is a wonderfull host and he has made of this recently fully renovated house a marvellous place. Only 4 rooms (2 master bedrooms overlooking the garden and 2 smaller rooms on the other side) so you'd better book in advance. Deco is raffined, our room was splendid with a large and comfortable bed. There is a big and lovely common terrace from where you can have your breakfast among birds and monkeys coming around. All facilites are available (A/C, wifi, fridge for your beer that the gentle personnal will buy for you, great diner if you ask in advance). Galle is only a 20 mn tuktuk drive from there. It is a 3 mn tuktuk drive from Unawatuna main beach and only a 3 mn walk from a local beach thought not that attractive. Main road is not that far so you can get to hear some noise at dawn but nothing to be woried about. The garden is a pleasure for the eyes and you'll be more than happy to come back to this retreat after a lazy day on the beach. I would definitely recommed this great place which was one of the best we have stayed during a three weeks trip to Sri Lanka.

We stayed here for 2 nights and loved it, great host, great staff, beautiful rooms, well decortated and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was great, the staff really looked after us, it was a real haven to arrive into. The gardens are very mature and have great wildlife, the beach is across the road but luckily it is far enough away from the main drag not to have the all night party noise which was perfect. We loved it hear, it was a nice little treat for us on our travels. Highly recommend. Una and Dan from Ireland

This is a guesthouse with style! The owners have thought of everything. The design of the building with the open planning and the garden is paradise! The rooms here are lovely and spacious with very large shower rooms. The beds are very comfortable.
Although you are only a very short 5 min walk from the beach, this place is well hidden and very peaceful. The service here is outstanding. Tea/coffee are offered when you come back from the beach-and if the owner is not around there is access to facilities to make drinks. Also a fridge to store snacks/beer/wine.
The breakfasts here are also excellent and it is great to be entertained by the monkeys / tropical birds that visit the garden.
The owner has very well behaved/looked after dogs.

Room Tip: The very best rooms are the ones overlooking the main garden. However the is very easy access to the...

My girlfriend and I arrived in Unawatuna in December 2012, having no reservations. We were quickly directed to Hibiscus Villas and what a pleasant surprise it was. Brilliant! Really friendly host with three very enthusiastic canine companions. Lovely rooms with en-suite and four poster beds, and a great communal kitchen and living area (kitchen only for storage, not cooking). Hibiscus has a really lovely garden and terrace and is only a minute away from Unawatuna beach. Absolutely recommend this place!!!

We were lucky enough and have just spent 10 wonderful days and nights at Villa Hibiscus in Unawatuna, Sri Lanka. This place is a little secret for people who love to stay in spacious, state of the art but traditional rooms with direct access to a paradise garden. Ajith, he's a great host and he really takes care about his guests in all matters and aspect to make it a unforgetable vacation experience. The beach is less than a 1-minute walk away, easy access to stores and groceries. Very clean, modern and stylish place. We will be back in December or January. What a dream place! Thanks again Ajith. Alex

Room Tip: You can choose between spacious rooms at Villa Hibiscus or the Cottage about 1 minute away. All room...

Location - Only short stroll to the beach & it was good to be away from the beach parties, particularly on a Saturday night
Service - Ajith was a fabulous host, very friends and always willing to help.
Food - Sri Lankan breakfast & dinner were outstanding, some of the best curries in Sri Lanka.
Villa - New & tastefully renovated. Great garden location and able to share breakfast with the monkeys & cute dogs
Would definitely go back next time in Unawatuna!!
