“Amazing place to stay”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

First of all, thanks to Ajith and team for the making our stay really memorable. This place is really awesome for its location at the bottom of a hill, humongous rooms with good ventilation, beautiful garden with lot of trees around with birds chirping, fabulous furnishing, a home close to nature and its proximity to the sea (a couple of minutes walk). I had travelled here with my wife and my 1 year old daughter, initially our plan was to stay for a couple of days in Unawatuna and then move on to Indruwa for the next three days, but we shortened the trip to Indruwa to a day due to some reasons and we came back to Unawatuna to stay here. Though our return to Hibiscus Villa from Indruwa was unplanned, Ajith made it a point to make some alternative arrangements and gave us a room to stay though all the rooms were occupied.
Initially we zeroed in on Hibiscus Villa because of its pricing and we had read some good reviews and we confirm that all of them were absolutely true. There was no disappointment and we are happy for selecting Hibiscus Villa. The staff were friendly and helpful and they served us with utmost care. The kitchen was fully equipped and the breakfasts were really good and I really liked the fish curry they served. I would strongly recommend Hibiscus Villa to anyone planning their holiday in Unawatuna and I can assure you that your stay will be a memorable one.

Sure to visit once again!!!

When I was in Hibiscus Villa I felt like I was on my own home. It is located in a high area so cool that you will not require for A/C, and just 2 minutes away from the sea. At that time when I was there they had 3 dogs, 3 friendly friends. We were there with my 2 friends from Vietnam and after the trip they had huge impression about Sri Lanka. I am glade about their satisfaction. All thanks to Hibiscus Villa. Everything you need in a house are available, we even went to market and made our own dinner in the kitchen. One thing to remember is you should not skip the breakfast they serve you in the morning cause according to our views it was fabulous. I would love to stay there when I am able to visit Unawatuna again.

Stayed for 4 nights in the nice "open bath" garden facing room. Everything was organized perfectly, Duncan, Ajith and the rest of the team are so helpful in organazing everything.

If you want to go in that region book this place! Very quiet, lots of nature in the garden when you enjoy your breakfast on the terrace. And the great fresh made Rotis for breakfast.... I am missing that.

Try the offer for real Sri-Lankan food - it is more delicious than in the restaurants we went.

Other beaches and attractions are easily accessible via Tuck-Tuck or car.

We travelled with out 3yo son, he enjoyed the space and "home-like" athmosphere very much.

...and yes, we travelled in the rainy season - no issues with that, 1 hr heavy rain and it is over and nice again...

What a find! We stayed here for three nights (the longest stay of any hotels over our 20 days on the island) and we were not dissapointed. We chose the villas because of the price and we were amazed at the standard. We were given a large room with an open roofed shower and balcony area. The toilet was in the room so not one for people less aquainted with each other! We were moved to a 'smaller' room for the last night which wasnt a problem as Agoda had made a mistake, not the owner. The room again was amazing with a very large bathroom (2 showers) and lovelt patio area.
Ajith is a great host with a great sense of humour too. We loved everything about our stay here and would thouroughtly recommend it to anyone staying in Unawatuna. It is 2 minutes away from the hustling Unawatuna beach and restaurants. A lovely little oasis amongst the chaos. Thank you so much Ajith!

Room Tip: The two front rooms have their own outside space and both are huge. The one on the right has a great...

We were atracted be ause of the price and we were amazed by the amazing and unique ambiance, tranquility and hospitality. The value is the best we found in Unawatuna. We stood in the king bed room with front view, lower level. Rooms are tastefull and modern decor. Bright and open spaces let light shine through. We were intitally going to staynjust 2 nights and ended up staying 3! The comfort of the room is really good. The house is also wonderfully decorated and the large open spaces are inviting. The garden is very nice too and the patio deck is a great spot to chill/ have bfast or mingle with other guests. Its a 5 minute tuk tuk drive from the main road on the beach where all the hotels are but its definetely worth to stay here and pay 150 rupees.Ajith is very friendly and helpful and gave us 5* service. I would gladly come here again, and recommed the Hibiscus Villa.

Room Tip: The lower level front rooms have their own private terrace

I would say that this is one of the best places to stay in Unawatuna. I would rate the property really high on its upkeep and it was truly an amazing place to stay. We were four friends and stayed in two front rooms (has great view of the garden). One of the rooms had open-to-sky bathroom which was really elegant. Ajith welcomed us and we really appreciate him sharing hints and tips on what to do during our two days stay at Unawatuna. i must say that the entire experience from booking rooms till checkout and the interaction with Ajith and Duncan was really pleasant. The breakfast was simple and tasty. The only shortfall was the rooms did not have an AC. We went during the start of the monsoon (June) but still found it to be pretty hot and humid. An AC would have definitely been a great comfort. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay and we would definitely go back once again... next time with our spouses. It's ideal for family stay.

Room Tip: Take the front rooms, they are worth it!
