“An amazing stay in an amazing villa”

We were a group of friends coming in from Australia, Hong Kong, Spain and UK to celebrate a "significant" birthday and we had a wonderful time at Villa Araliya. It is a beautiful house and everything went smoothly from the day I booked (one year ahead!) until the day we left.
Champika, our housekeeper, was a total star - our "fixer". She made sure that we could do everything that we wanted to do. Once she got used to the idea that we ONLY wanted Sri Lankan food, she produced some amazing dishes. Our favourite breakfast was egg hoppers. She also made us a breakfast of string hoppers one day. Delicious! As she knew it was my birthday, on the last day we had my official Sri Lankan celebration. She (or the boys) decorated the villa with balloons overnight so that when we got up it was looking very festive. We had a special breakfast (rice cakes) with candle ceremony included. And the evening was a feast of Sri Lankan specialities. It was a very special day, much appreciated by everyone.
Champika put us in touch with Surein who was able to arrange all our transportation including a trip to Yala. He was great and I would recommend him to anyone going there.
All in all, it was a fantastic trip. We all loved it.

“A little piece of paradise”

We spent nearly a month travelling around Sri Lanka in a group of 8 people, and were so happy to arrive at Villa Araylia and realise we had left the best to last. Stepping through the front gate was like stepping into a garden paradise full of exotic flowers and edible plants. The house was spacious, cool and well appointed and the bedrooms are just what you imagine they should be, with soft comfy mattresses, crisp white sheets and elegantly flowing mosquito nets. Our room had an outside bathroom with a resident chameleon who didn't mind sharing. The pool was in constant use and each morning we had the delight of watching a Kingfisher go through his daily bathing ritual, diving down into the water and then flying up to the roof to preen. There are several areas in the house to sit and relax, so even with a large group you can find your own quiet corner. The staff were discreet, efficient and helpful, and one of the things we enjoyed most was shopping with the cook in the food markets in Galle. All in all I would highly recommend Villa Araylia and would say it is very good value for money. It gave us a quiet, relaxing and peaceful ending to our Sri Lankan holiday and it was very hard to leave.

We chose Vila Araliya as the location for our small wedding celebration. We were a group of 3 couples and 2 singles. The villa was perfect. Plenty of space, nice large bedrooms with a choice of styles, well furnished. The central pool courtyard is lovely. Very spacious lounge and dining areas. Rukmal the smiling houseman and Upasena looked after our every need and were aways to hand but not intrusive. Kamela, who took care of cooking for us, is an absolutel marvel. We had altogether 5 weeks in Sri Lanka and without doubt Kamela's food was our favourite.
Ron, the owner, was really really helpful, from the day we first enquired about the villa until we left. He and his wife very kindly allowed us to hold our wedding ceremony in the garden of the villa and it was everything we could have wished for.
You can get a real feel of local life by just stepping outside the gate! Small village nearby. Tuk tuk ride to beaches and Galle town. Easily arranged.

“Perfect in every way”

Villa Araliya was perfect in every way for our family of 5 adults and two children. The accommodation was stylish and comfortable with large beds in every room, a fully fitted and functional kitchen, a beautiful pool, and extensive landscaped gardens. The staff were always cheerful and willing. Rukmal our houseboy attended to everything from cleaning the rooms to the odd bit of shopping, always with a smile. Our eight day rental was everything we hoped it would be and we have very happy memories of our stay.
