Stayed for 4 nights with my wife, arriving v. late from Colombo Airport in Taxi (LKR8000). Owners were awake and waiting to check us in to top Suite room (2 balconies, A/C).
Location is perfect, just across from main Unawatuna Beach (but not on-sand).
On arrival, we were treated to a fridge filled with local beers, soft drinks & bottles of water. Free refills on request, which was a nice touch.
Breakfast was very basic, but sufficient (white toast or local pancake-type "hoppers", fruit, jam, coffee/tea).
Room was large & clean, but wasn't serviced each night (e.g beds made, garbage emptied, fresh towels/linens) so if you're after a pampered, hotel-like experience, you might want to try elsewhere. This is a guest-house, where owners were helpful, on-call, but left us alone. Bathroom was large, hot water worked well, a/c & fans modern and efficient.
The highlight, however, was the proximity to amazing wildlife. Brinkhouse sits on the edge of the jungle on a river/swamp (bring your mozzie repellent/DEET!) and we had regular sightings or visits from:
* A troupe of Grey Langur monkeys (12-20) which hung out on our balcony
* Two 4-5ft freshwater mugger crocodiles
* 4ft water monitors
Asking around, A/C rooms at neighbouring resorts were about 30% cheaper, but the size of the room and wildlife made this a very pleasant stay.More
