Overall, this is a good place to stay. This was my third trip to Tirupur and second stay at this hotel. Wi-fi worked this time (it did not work last time). However, their electric outlet has some issues since it did not charge my laptop in 3 out of 4 outlets. So, come prepared, you never know.

The food the hotel is mediocre and drinks very expensive. Only the breakfast is somewhat decent.

We had checked into hotel on 31st August 2012 @ 4.00pm, they were well informed about that, it is for a family of 2. The toilet commode was broken at the base, shower did not work, we have to use a Mug & Bucket, there were no Toiletry's kept, there were no towels and repeatedly we have to call House Keeping, lighting in the toilet is very poor ( U can not Shave even with the door open). Morning tea was not Hot for both the days.
Totally not worth a Stay for the amount,

Chakrapani E G from Bangalore.

The hotel is far from Tiruppur town...more closer to Avinashi.

Though from outside the hotel looks grand, the interior of the rooms are quite old style and can do well with some renovation to match contemporary taste and style.

The buidlings in the hotel are huge but seem isolated. I spent time going up and down to find the restaurant for my breakfast. Can the managment put out sign boards at convenient places to guide guests around?

I felt the costs were a bit on the higher side for the amenities available... So go with lower expectations otherwise you may be disappointed.

There are several things that are good about this hotel. I'm not sure they outweigh some negatives. The location is isolated, therefore it is quiet. The rooms are actually separate buildings and offer a good deal of space. However, the buildings are dated and need to be upgraded. The breakfast buffet is only available if there are enough guests to merit it. The restaurant can be some distance from the place you stay. Biggest complaint was no hot water early in the morning on 4 of the 5 days we were there. Staff understands little English and traveler's checks are not accepted. Very much an Indian hotel.

A few years ago, the smaller cities in Tamilnadu did not offer too many hotel options. Fortunately, that has changed in the last decade and towns like Tirupur, which attract business visitors from abroad and other parts of India, are now much better served. Proximity to my client’s office was the main reason for choosing Poppy’s, which is on the outskirts of the city.

We did not notice the entrance to the Hotel as we passed it as night had fallen by the time we drove into Tirupur. I called the hotel asking for directions, indicating our location and the direction I had come; the guy who answered the phone sent us in the opposite direction and by the time we started asking for directions I was a good ten kilometers away from the hotel. (Btw, most Turupurians are obviously not aware that the hotel is named after a flower and refer to it as “Puppys” ).
Once I reached the place, I was happy to see the units, named after different flowers, scattered around seven acres of greenery; the irritation of negotiating traffic while going the wrong way, searching for the hotel, melted away.

To enjoy your stay at such hotels is to keep expectations in check - these are not five star places and their prices are quite different; so are their facilities and service. My room was spacious and had the basic furniture, but the décor was what people would call tacky. Most intriguing was a one way mirror located somewhere in between the place where one keeps luggage and the rest of the room! The bathroom was also spacious with a bathtub and basic toiletries. The air conditioning was efficient in spite of the frequent power outages (no fault of the hotel) but the “min bar” was an empty fridge …
The buffet breakfasts, served in the restaurant, to which you had to walk a bit from the room (a problem when it rains), were pretty good and it was a pleasant surprise to see sausages and bacon in the spread, which included standard Indian as well as continental fare. The multinational clientele did look pleased. The dinner and lunch menus were also quite varied and the food was good. Room service was ok though one of the guys was a bit prone to lapses in memory.

The bar menu is very limited (No fault of the hotel, thanks to the liquor distribution system in the state). It was nice to see that the complimentary side eats included crunchy vegetables instead of the usual fried stuff.

Good value for money.

I travel to tirupur atleast twice a month for business purpose and I stay only at Poppys Hotel. Perfect place for business meetings and business discussions. Huge conference hall, lobby area, perfect ambience for staying and enjoying pleasure of a hotel stay. The Restaurant of the hotel has great food. The rooms are huge with well equipped facilities and well mannered service staff. Big swimming pool, garden area so a perfect pleasurable stay at Hotel Poppy's .
