Warning, if you don't do walking or are not not that mobile, you don't need to miss out, just get the bus up the moutain like my mother in law did. However, whilst a challenging walk, I did this with 2 yr old on my shoulders and it took no more than a few hours to complete. It was definitely worth the effort as you get to see what the locals do and also some fantastic views. There are also lots locals selling drinks etc
.. on the way up do there's plenty of opportunity to have a break if you need to.

Changshu itself is city which will surprise you with its natural beauty of lakes and canals that trespass every nook and cranny of the city. On top that is Yushan Mountain, a place that will make you forget time. It is serene, clean, beautiful and very relaxing. The facility is very well maintained, and a stroll in the park during weekends is highly recommended. The foothills of the mountain on the city side is dotted with series of restaurant, which is also an unique feature of this place. A hike on the mountain is worth its value. Access to the mountain is free, so come and explore Changshu, through Yushan Mountain.

There are many different paths to explore, some very nice tea houses next to pretty ponds and the walk along the wall was fun.

We did not cover even a quarter of the walking journey but we were already taken in by the beauty of the mountain. At several points of our walk we could get a good view of the city as well. We will definitely return to complete the walk that could take 3 or more hours to complete.

The forest park is not so common for local citizens because it requires entrance fee. Instead, local would rather going to the Yushan Park which is free of charge. There are two entrances for the forest park. One is on the hill side and the other is near the “阜成門” of Yushan North Road.
