Disappointing, reality did not match reviews.

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Dec 30, 2023via mobile
After reading such positive reviews, the reality didn’t match the expectation. This is a large lodge with rooms set out in long rows. Each room has individual aircon, which is unusual but welcome. The location is within the park but still requires a 30 minute drive to commence any game drives. There is a small gift shop and a swimming pool as well as a newly built bar and restaurant with lovely views.

Disappointment with the general level of service. Wifi was terrible and the electricity went off several times. The shower was awful, no hot water, poor water pressure and the shower head did not attach to the wall. We also had workers renovating the room next door for the duration of our visit. Our room seemed to be the last without a glass window, ours was still mesh meaning the aircon was not as effective.

While the buffet food offered a wide variety of options, there was little choice for gluten free and sometimes none at all. A general lackadaisical attitude to service with the exception of Royal Mark who went above and beyond and was a standout amongst the staff. A very disappointing stay in comparison to other lodges we’ve experienced.

It's basically a 4/5 for me.. truly worth the vacation in the wild experience

Place is very beautiful and has the dopest food...we were basically chilling with water bucks and elephants in the background...there were 2 lovely people who worked on us Some guy called Gerald and a lady called Sarah who were exceptionally nice and gave the best hospitality and made us feel at home
Lastly the rooms have first class ambience and there's a dope pool outside them that is so cool with a bar...loved the place and hope to come back soon with my girlfriend

We were originally placed in a room directly next to where they are doing construction, and had to ask to be moved. Moving didn't help much, because we were woken up at 7:30am first by housekeeping letting themselves in without knocking. Then at 8:00am, the manager knocked on the door and asked us to get up and move "to a quieter location" because they were about to do some construction. We then went to get breakfast, and found it had already been put away and there was no food, at 8:30am. Between the construction and weedwhackers all going at once, being removed from our room so early, and no food, it was the least relaxing vibes we've been around in awhile

The new bar and restaurant area is beautifully decorated, but poorly planned and blocks the pool's view of the Nile delta. Confusing half-finished ramps and stairs created a ton of foot traffic by the pool. With the kitchen now right next to the pool, loud music playing from kitchen staffs phones and all the activity of a lodge's kitchen did not create a relaxing environment.

The bridge that creates access for game drives has also been washed away which means you are almost an hour's drive away from any of the game drives, which is meant to be the main point of staying at this location.

Staff were nice, but management was not attentive and unapologetic about our negative experiences.

Overall, horrible value for money, and we checked out early after the first night and spent the rest of our trip at a more reputable lodge in the park.

Room tip: Call and ask about construction. If there is any construction, re-book somewhere else.

Pakuba Lodge was the perfect place for a two day safari following several days of business meetings near Iganga. The accommodations were comfortable, clean and reasonably priced. The entire Pakuba staff were professional, welcoming, dedicated and went out of their way to make sure we had a great time during our stay. Our room hostess Immaculate and safari guide Robert were particularly attentive. We saw an abundant and diverse array of game - including elephant, giraffe, hippo, several types of antelope and birds. We enjoyed seeing the elephants, water bucks and wart hogs roaming the property while watching the incredible sunsets from the dining room. I recommend the boat trip on the Victoria Nile to Murchison Falls. Overall an excellent few days of safari at a reasonable price.

First of all, this is heaven on earth if you love animals. Couple that with the beautiful natural scenery and the kindest people I've ever met and this is what dreams are made of. Every morning we got up super early to experience a leopard sitting in the trees, warthogs everywhere, deer, giraffes, African birds, elephants, and all the amazing wildlife surrounding us just steps from our cabin doors. If you have kids, keep them quiet and hold them close or you'll scare off your new friends. They are ok to hang around if you are quiet and walk slowly. The food was amazing. The staff was beyond. I haven't been to any resort in Uganda that was better than this. Close to Murchison Falls. Comfy beds. Safari right outside your window. And the price is amazing. Highly recommend. You will never forget it.

Room tip: Only 40 rooms so never crowded but power and water are only on from 7 am to 7 pm

Beautiful location in the heart of Murchison National Park.
Rooms were clean with nice hot shower. Turn down service at night & mosquito nets on the beds.
The restaurant had a lovely buffet & Ezra our waiter was very friendly & attentive.
There's a beautiful spot out the front to relax with hammocks & a cosy fire pit area to watch the water bucks come in to settle for the night. Night security were watchful & friendly. Mid-range accom that was very nice! Thank you for having us.
