when visiting this site, you will first watch a video which will give u a better understanding on what happened on the site and why it was then called Blood River. You will then see the wagons outside in a circular shape (similar shape during the battle).
We highly recommend this site mostly for people who are more into the History of the country, a visit to this site certainly will be a benefit and i must add that it is very well maintained!

The blood river site is very interesting and very well maintained and depicts the battle between the voortrekkers and the Zulus.vThe center piece display is 40 life size Bronze Wagons.

I didn't have time to visit but on the other side of the river is the Zulu museum of the same battle.

The road to the site is typical of many of the sites in the area so be prepared to have a bit of a bumpy ride but its worth it when you get there.

The site is really interesting and well looked after. The video before the time was very informative and gave a good overview on what happened on the site and made the experience even more meaningful.

The couple managing the place was very friendly and helpful and clearly passionate about the place. We had a quick lunch in the restaurant - excellent!

A must see!

The whole site had a sombre feel about it but the brief video intro put everything into clear understanding. The Voortrekkers were brave and courageous people

It is quite a treck to get to Blood River and the roads are dirt but well worth the effort.
We were greeted personally and given an amazing talk on the site and what happened there. It was made very interesting by the manager who obviously has a great passion for his job. It really is exceptional and should definately be on your list if you are visiting the battlefields. Also there is an small shop and restaurant
