“A well captured time capsule.”
Reviewed July 24, 2012

Sometimes when travelling, unexpected "finds" put your current activities into perspective. The curator has added love and spirit into insightful displays. The Battlefields, Mining exhibits, Hall of Clothing, Bead Gallery and Glass Display halls were packed with well labelled and documented details of the life and times of the area for over a decade. In addition, the cemetry outside, early houses, cultural village, blacksmith, milking shed and much more are original or created as it was.Public toilets, Museum shop and walking trail up Talana Hill make this comprehensive venue truly something for everybody. A must prior to the Battlefields which you will then appreciate with better understanding.A suggested visit by The Royal Country Inn.

“One of the Best”
Reviewed May 27, 2012

As far as museums go, this one is at the top end. You wouldn't expect it from such a small, out of the way town, but it is worth a visit. Very interesting history, and very well run establishment.

“Best battlefields museum in the area”
Reviewed May 2, 2012

Talana Museum is really a complex of different, small museums. We only visited the battlefields related ones, and were most impressed with the displays and info on offer. Well worth a visit, set aside at least two or three hours.

“A remarkable place”
Reviewed March 4, 2012

You need most of the day to take in this brilliant museum. Dundee hasn't got much going for it but this museum, which is on the site of a Boer War battle, tells you about the coal mining in the area and separate exhibits are equaly fascinating.
