“The journey between Howick and Underberg just wouldn't be the same without it !”

A gem in the middle of nowhere, just when the journey seems too long. About halfway between Howick and Underberg, the playground keeps the children happy while Craig and the talented team of ladies prepare and serve just what you need. The cosy fireplace tempts you to stay longer when its chilly outside and Craig's chilli pickles complement any meal you choose. The Boston pickle and Chilli Chutney get my vote, although the Hotazell is manageable mixed in with the homemade mayo!!

“Unexpected but worthwhile stop”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2013

We had not planned to stop there but our driver insisted to stop and show us around. We ended up staying for lunch - I had a bran muffin which was sufficient for 2! The also make a most delicious Pickleccino - a MUST!
We ended up buying CARROTS WITH A KICK (we bought to little) as we could not stop snacking from them!

“Gorgeous setting, nice food, wonderful preserves, great crafts, trail”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2012

Yes - rather more than a restaurant. A more-or-less compulsory stop for me. It's in a lovely setting and is run by environmentally-conscious people who invite you to try out their walking trail (I have yet to do so). The food - light meals - they serve up is very fresh and tasty, and the setting is really beautiful, but it has to be said that the pickles and preserves they sell are as much of an attraction: utterly delicious.
