This was our first visit to Mauritius, and our (trusted) travel agent here in South Africa recommended this hotel - what we enjoyed most was the amazing view from our room, looking across the sea to that wierd shaped Coin de Mire island. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room could have been a little bigger, but the view made up for it - we tried upgrading to a bigger room but the hotel was fully booked. The food at the hotel was good - not great. Our booking included breakfast and dinner - i'm glad we didn't book the 'fully inclusive' option, 'cos we had some really great meals around the island.
The taxis are quite expensive - we hired a small car (you have to shop around for prices), and this was the best decision we made. We really toured the island at our own pace, and saw parts of this country that you won't find on tourist brochures - this is highly recommended.
All in all, this was a great holiday and we'd love to go back there. Don't miss these places: Grand Baie, ile aux cerfs, Grand Bassin (this is a must see) then take a really scenic drive from here to Chamarel, but stop at Alexander Falls in between. . . oh and have a 'Phoenix" beer for me!More
