Canonnier Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa

We got married at Le Canonnier during November 2011 and I must say that this place is absolutely amazing, the weather was perfect and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
There is plenty to do including snorkelling, skiing, water sports, shopping, trips....
If you are considering the Beachcomber group, make sure you go with this hotel, as the other 2 (La Mauritia and La Victoria) are not nearly as nice ( location )

Make sure you take all inclusive.

Room Tip: Sea view is slightly more expensive, but 100% worth it!

December 2011
Spent a week staying at Le Canonnier. Hotel is in a lovely setting and the buildings are sympathetic to the surroundings with beautiful gardens and features. Staff were very friendly and helpful, there seemed to be plenty of staff on hand to cater for every need.
We had a ground floor sea facing room near the far end of the buildings closest to the beach.
The food at the buffet was exceptionally good , and it was always being replenished so it looked well presented ....often a poor point with buffet style dining. Plenty of choices and options. we ate at the Navigator one evening and the food there was excellent.
Beach side activities well catered for with lots of things to do ......Kayaks, Pedallos, etc and also free snorkelling trips out on the nearby reef...........equipment all seemed to be in good order.
Beaches kept clean and tidy........just remember to use beach shoes when swimming / paddling due to possibility of sea urchins / stonefish .

One very minor gripe was quality of the towels provided in the rooms......could be better !

Departure lounge / changing room for use on last day with a late departure was well received !

We used a taxi to transfer to /from airport from taximauritius and they were very good , on time and at the agreed price. http://www.taxismauritius.com/

On this basis we would definately visit a Beachcomber hotel again.

Just returned after 2 weeks at Le Canonnier hotel. What a fantastic time we have had. We got married in the second week of our stay with 8 other guest and we cannot believe the attention to detail and the service we received throughout the process, it was amazing. Roshan dealt with the wedding plans and we cannot thank him enough for everything that he has done and how special our day was. Everything from the legal dealings down to the colour ribbon on our cake was thoroughly thought out. Music, flowers and the photographer were all arranged and again all fantastic. The setting on the beach was perfect and the weather and day could not have been more perfect and memorable, completely stress free thanks to Roshan and his team.
The staff around the hotel are great, they are polite, friendly and remember your names after one meeting. The grounds are well kept, with lovely flowers and palm trees, the Banyon tree is fantastic with the spa built into the tree.
The food was great, plenty of choice each evening both in the buffet and the al a carte restaurants, even after 2 weeks we were not bored of the extensive choice of food available. All our guest were more than pleased with their rooms, plenty of space in the room with full access to the mini bar which was filled up each day. Thanks to Joypaul who cleaned our room and decorated it with flowers etc each day.
We booked through Helen at Holidays please and she was fantastic, dealing with all our questions and queries she took any doubt about booking our wedding abroad, a big thank you.
We hope to be back there next year celebrating our anniversary in a fantastic hotel.
Once again a big thanks to Roshan and all the staff at Le Canonnier, hope to see you again.

we have just got back from our friends wedding at this hotel and it was paradise to us. The wedding was the most beautiful and enjoyable wedding we have been to in a long time. The setting was perfect, the service was fantastic and the food was the best food we've ever experienced at an all inclusive hotel. Our room was perfect, we had up graded to a superior garden view but we were put right between the beach and pool which was good for us. We had a lovely cleaner who put flowers on our bed every night and also swans and dogs made from towels, it all added to making our time there so special. The waiters in all the resturants were fantastic, always topping up our drinks etc. While we was there we booked a day trip to walk with the lions and quad biking at casela which we would highly recommend, but be very cafeful if you get a taxi from the hotel to take you as we had agreed a price but then the driver demanded more money from us. This made us angry as we always tip anyway but to demand the money is totally out of order. Other than that i would recommend this hotel to everyone, so wonderful

We too booked the all-inclusive package and were upgraded to a seafacing room on the eastern side. We were wedding guests and it turned out to be a totally memorable experience - totally stress free (even the bride and groom were so relaxed and Ajay and his team seemed to be a step ahead all the time). Although very comfortable the rooms were very basic. If I want to be picky - there were no face clothes or conditioner provided in the bathroom. Both I thought were pre-reqisites in a hotel of this calibre. I would summarise our experience as - great food, wine, company and lots of sunshine. Who needs more!!!! It was easy to find a section of sand and water with no one else around - or mix with the crowd around the pool or main beach. I would recommend you book at the Italian and Navigator Restaurants well in advance for a number of nights. We were only able to get a table one night out of six. It made a lovely change from the buffet.

Room Tip: Eastern facing seafront rooms were very quiet

We booked the all-inclusive package with a seafacing room, this was the best decision made. The room was not overly large but comfortable with everything you needed for a weeks holiday. The beds were firm which was OK for us but the pillows were very soft and had to ask for them to be changed, this was done with no problem.
The all - inclusive package was excellent value, the food is buffet style with several choices... nothing very exotic but varied day by day, this was good for breakfast and lunch, but in the evening we chose to use the Navigator and Italian restaurants as it was silver service but fixed menu. The food was excellent and we enjoy good food normally so we wern't dissappointed.

The best part is the coastline location which is rocky and shallow and ideal for sunning yourself while reading a book or just relaxing without too much effort under palm trees.

The weather in early November was sunny and hot everyday with a little shower of rain on a couple of days in the afternoon, which was a welcome cooling down

The staff were very friendly and helpful, they organise events during the day as well as early morning exercises, nothing was too much trouble.

The one thing that would have been nice was for the hotel to bring round cooled face towels whilst at the pools and perhaps iced drinks / fruit - just a suggestion.

Be aware that the hotel is the opposite side of the island from the airport and the shuttle bus takes a good hour to get between the two...

Room Tip: Seafacing rooms are ideal - quiet, great view and lounger for an afternoon relax looking out to the...

What a wonderful hotel. My husband and I decided to get married in Mauritius as we didn't fancy the traditional type wedding. We decided on this hotel and goodness are we pleased we did. It was the most amazing experience of my life. Ajay, Roshan and his staff made the experience wonderful. Upon our arrival at the hotel we were met with friendly staff, were ushered to lovely outside tables and chairs, given a wet towel each to freshen up and a crushed ice refreshing fruit drink while we completed our checking in paperwork. A member of staff came to us and checked us in to the hotel (instead of us standing in a queue in front of the desk). We were shown to our rooms and out luggage followed. We stayed in a Superior double room facing the sea. The room was huge, a big bed, loads of storage, a lovely sofa, fridge with mini bar (refilled daily and all included in the all inclusive deal), we had a table and chairs on the patio (reached through patio doors), safe, huge bathroom with separate toilet, bath, double basin, walk in shower and air conditioning. Waking up each morning seeing that amazing view was just spectacular.

The reception area is open plan and gorgeous. It has several shops in the reception and a salon (that does your wedding hair). Walk down the stairs to the seating area on the right with a pool table. Further follow the path outside to the bar with lovely water features and entertainment area to the left, to the right is the buffet restaurant (you will always find loads of amazing food to eat here - it is ridiculously good and the bread section was amazing - we stayed for 2 weeks and never got bored of the food - each night had a theme also and the staff were amazing), there is also an A la Carte Pizzeria restaurant here and a kids restaurant. Further on there is a large swimming pool, the lovely spa that is built in a huge tree (treatments were really good as well and they do the wedding make up in your room). Further on is another A la Carte restaurant and we are 2 meals here. The food was fantastic, actually you get a wedding meal here and it is still the most amazing meal I have had in my life. We had duck to start and steak for main meal overlooking the ocean and beach.

There are tennis courts that are well kept (hire balls and rackets at reception) and a lot of the water sports were included in the all inclusive. We also paid for walking on the sea bed which was an absolutely amazing experience and water skiing which I have never done on the ocean before. We did loads of snorkelling with gorgeous fish to see and the sandy beaches were amazing. There are loads of people coming past to sell stuff though as the beaches are public.

Roshan met with me the day after my arrival and went through everything with my husband and I. We picked what we wanted and he arranged it. We decided on a BBQ on the beach for our wedding dinner. This was the most amazing wedding ever. Our guests still talk about it (the wedding was May 2010). We had a 3 person band playing throughout our meal on the beach, the food was amazing from the great presented starters and deserts to the BBQ (rib of beef, lamb chops, lobster thermadore, duck and so on, followed by our wedding cake. I got to pick my own flowers as I had a specific wedding theme and I brought a few things with to decorate the table such as wedding favours and so on that they happily added to the table for me. The only thing that was stressful was sorting out the wedding certificates. You are taken to the solicitor’s office who signs of documents that has to be taken to court. You then walk to the court with one of the solicitor's staff and start queuing for your paperwork to be stamped. Once stamped, you walk back to the solicitor's for more paperwork (this is all in Port Lois) then you get taken to another office where they do the rest of the paperwork and meet the person who will actually do the wedding ceremony (he was a very nice chap). It took most of the day. We chose the wedding to be at an area off the beach on the A la Carte Restaurant's premises that were surrounded by palm trees and the ground was sandy. We were taken loads of places to choose but when on the beach you are surrounded by people sun bathing (some topless) while you are doing your ceremony. They cannot be asked to move to another location so I found this to be a better and more private location. As it is so hot, it also provided us with some shelter from the heat, (wedding dresses are really hot - who knew). You get walked through the entire hotel and bar area to your location (there is only 1 wedding a day so they can focus only on you for the day - it is your day only). The ceremony was amazing and the photo's came out wonderful. He also puts this on a disk for you but I wasn't impressed with the video at all. This was only like a screen saver effect basically with the photographs that we already had and the bits that were actually live had really bad sound.

You do have many options but I do recommend you spend the extra and have the BBQ on the beach and the 3 person band during dinner (I had 1 person playing the guitar when walking to the ceremony) especially if you have your friends and family there also. It is so worth it.

After the wedding we had champagne on ice waiting in the room with a rose petal bath. Our room was decorated every day with another sculpture out of towels and petals (really talented).

Transfers were arranged for us. Complimentary pancakes were served in the bar from 4pm and filled baguettes were served throughout the day if you preferred a lighter lunch.

One of the best experiences of my life.

I would love to go back.
