“wonderful lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2014

Beautiful, warm restaurant with attentive knowledgeable staff. We shared a lunchtime platter, which was delicious ,generous portions of cheese, and a variety of tidbits. The wine was excellent, and we were very happy, would certainly eat here again.

“Excellent is too poor a word!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 23, 2014

While attending an Annual General Meeting in Central Otago we stopped off for lunch at The Nose. While the day was a little windy to tempt us into the garden, the inside dining room is just lovely.

Pleasantly laid out and nicely decorated, the room was heated but not too hot, as is so often the case in Central Otago restaurants and bars. The lunch menu is not huge but it caters for all tastes. I chose the lamb shank pie, which while a bit on the small side (normal NZ shop size pie rather than the deeper and larger cafe/restaurant size) was very tasty. I also sampled some of the other mains - the steak sandwich was lovely, the soup was said to be "magnificent", the fish was described as tasty, and there were no complaints from those who were eating off the children's menu (even though they were just the standard kid's fare such as reconstituted chicken nibbles and fries).

I'd love to go back and sample the evening fare - together with some of the local wines!

“Gorgeous Place”

Very high quality restaurant with delightful outside terrace where we sat by a roaring outside fire and ate delicious ice cream. Very good quality toilets too--spotlessly clean and very modern.

“What a discovery! Beautiful place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2014

We were visiting the region and happened to drive past 'The Nose' winery in Cromwell. What a find! We saw the big outdoor open fire and decided to turn our car around and go back for lunch. So glad we did. It was a bit of a chilly day but still ok to sit outside near the outdoor fire while our kids explored the vines and the outdoor area. We were looked after by Nicole who was lovely and had an extensive knowledge of the wine, food and local area. The wines we tasted were wonderful. Thank you to Nicole and other staff who looked after us so well. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and we will definitely be returning on our next trip to NZ. If you are in Cromwell, do yourself a favour and try out 'The Nose' Winery.
