Five of us enjoyed dinner here on Friday night. My mother, sister and I each had a stone grill, which consisted of a succulent piece of steak, prawns and scallops, served with vegetables (beans broccoli and carrots) and roast vegetables. Dad had the roast of the day, which was roast pork, which he thoroughly enjoyed, and the other person in our party the blue cod - deep fried, with chips. The cost was $31 per head including drinks. I thought it was a good value, nutrious pub meal. The service was good, with water brought to the table as soon as we sat down, drinks shortly after, and no great delay with the meal. We all paid for our meals separately at the end of the evening, and this was not a problem for them at all.

I've got to say that after being greeted by two locals at the front door in their Swandri singlets, I wasn't expecting much from the Vic. Surprise, surprise...the lamb shanks were outstanding, the Pinot was delicious and the dessert, well I'm going back in August to do it again. Albeit, probably 10 degrees below...!!

This is not the first time we have given this place a go. Infact we have been 4 times, I am one for giving chances. However none of our experiences were any different, the place is cold, outdated and the staff are not very welcoming. We had previously phoned and made a booking, however no one got back to us, so we rang again and were told we had to be there at a certain time as others were booked in (which was fine with us), however as usual the food was late (so were weren't even served until after we were supposed to be gone (the time they said we had to be "out" by), On one of our other outings, they forgot one order so the person had to wait for their dinner whilst everyone else at the table ate, another time food was sent back because it was raw, so on all 4 occasions we have never all been served our meals at the same time. Totally unprofessional! Not that is worries us but you are also in the du-duz if you are with friends and paying separately (say 2 families) as you are "under no circumstances allowed more than one bill per table, as our friends were recently told. Unfortunately we will never dine at this establishment again.

An earlier phone call enquiry was met with a very positive response from a bar staff member and the service was great from the moment we arrived (without having made a booking!!). There was a really good range on the menu, including gluten free options. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our very varied meals. The wine selection was very acceptable. Very comfortable, relaxed and homely.

Historic Pub, so dont expect glass and chrome surrounds. The menu was typical pub fare, pleasent staff, quick service, historical artifacts and photos surround the walls, just enough to keep things interesting. well worth a visit.
