My partner and I visited Northburn last week! On arrival a lovely lady greeted us and seated us. And was very attentive to us! We ordered a platter whch not only looked great but tasted senstational! A combination of the venue, food and service left us with a 5 star impression, and we eneded up staying a lot longer than planned as we did not want to leave!

We arrived just on lunch time. The chap who served us went out of his way to make us feel like a nuisance. We ordered Merino lamb salad, which was bland - the flavour was dominated by the taste of canned beans. Even if it had tasted ok it would still not be value for money.

On the plus side, the setting is beautiful and it was a nice day.l

Dear Mark

Thank you for reviewing The Shed at Northburn Station. It is disappointing to hear that our service and food standards were not up to our usual high standard and I would like to apologise for this.

We do have a beautiful venue and location and it is important to us that our food and service reflect that. I am currently reviewing the menu item you received and following up on the greeting. You were not treated to the 'Northburn' welcome as is our norm and that is regretful.

I would like to express that our produce is either grown on site or sourced locally and prepared in our kitchens from scratch. This is a value that is important to us. The merino lamb is from our farm and we buy the lentils you mentioned dried and cook them with our homemade stock and herbs.

Thanks again for the feedback, it is valuable to us.

What a friendly welcome we received on Friday, just wanted a light lunch so we did the cheese platter, plus a glass of wine, afterwards we tasting a few wines, if you are not a wine drinker they have some fantastic homemade James and Chutneys for tasting as well. This is the place to come on a summer days and enjoy the outside dinning area, and the garden setting. It’s only 6km from Cromwell.

Fund Raiser for Cure Kids, 200 for lunch - you would think they would struggle - well they handled it fast and efficiently and food and service was beyond reproach. Merino (lamb) pies were sublime. Unlike some other wineries they price their own wine reasonably.
