Gemseekers Caravan Park
Reviewed July 30, 2012

Just had 10 days at Gemseekers, our second visit in two years. Spotlessly clean amenities and park. Very pleasant atmosphere with friendly and obliging owners. Congratulations to Terry and Vicki on your recent award.

Recently stayed at Gemseekers after reading the reviews here on Trip Advisor. I must say we were extremley disappointed in our experience. We were travelling with friends and after making a booking back in March (knowing that Winter is the peak season), were lost for words when we discovered upon arrival that we were not placed on adjoining sites. No excuse was offered by the owners other than "sorry we just can't do it" - which I find inexcusable since we booked 3 months in advance. Furthermore we were placed on a site right next to the amenities block and sewage treatment plants. The smell eminating from the holding tanks was to say the least "unpleasant", while the constant humming of the treatment plant pump 24/7 did nothing to aide our sleep after long days in the gemfields searching for our fortune.
Families with children take note - LOOK FOR AN ALTERNATIVE PLACE TO STAY. Although the owners Terry & Vicky are pleasant enough to the adults, it is a different matter when it comes to the kids. We overheard them several times 'discipline' our children during our stay when they thought we the adults were out of earshot. This was totally inappropriate as our children were by no means acting unruly at time and generally are well behaved. I won't mention specifics but it appeared that the owners just did not want children staying at their park.
To be fair, the park would suit couples but anyone travelling with kids - book at your own risk!

Friendly, helpful owners and so clean. Whatever you need the owners are there to provide it - directions to the pub, fossicking gear (for a mere $2 a day), clues on where to dig plus a story or 2 thrown in about "cutters". Could not reccommend this place highly enough. Loved it, will be back.

Finally, thanks to the guys at Trip Advisor, we can catch up with Gemseekers Caravan Park. Gemseekers (Previously called Bedford Gardens Caravan Park) was taken over by Terry and Vicki about two years ago. The change in the place is a credit to them both. You'll be welcomed and made to feel comfortable bt one of these terrific people and the cleanliness of the park will be immediately seen.
We've stayed there the last two years and we'll be back again this year all being well.
Have a quick look at the reviews on Bedford Gardens since these two took over and I'm sure that your next Rubyvale stop will be at Gemseekers.

Wrote a review on this park eighteen months ago. In September 2011 we went back for a couple of weeks, we weren't disappointed. The park was again spotlessly clean and even more work has been carried out on the camp kitchen. Terry and Vicki again made everyone welcome, can't say enough about how well they've pulled the place together. Looks like another stop over this year.

Vicki's friendly phone manner when we booked and Terry's warm welcome when we arrived helped make our stay at Bedford gardens a very pleasant experience. The park was very clean and tidy with good sized and private sites. Terry quickly had us sorted out and explained the running of the park as well as a quick and informative run down of what was available locally. As most caravanners would know the first impressions mean a lot and Terry quickly had the three vans on sites and set up ready for Happy Hour.
The amenities in the park are extremely clean and modern and the camp kitchen well planned.
The easy friendliness of Terry and Vicki puts everyone at ease and they are ready and willing to help with any request.
Will we stay there again? Of course we will, can't wait 'til next years trip. ( This time we might even find some sapphires )
Finally the new management of this park has apparently turned it around in a MAJOR way and some of the comments on this site are totally out of date. Pity the site can't reflect the changes but trust me they're positive and very satisfactory

We were welcomed by Terry's hospitality. Nice size camping places, very private, surrounded by flowering bushes. Lots of birds. Truly an oasis in the desert.
The new amenities were incredibly clean and had a hotellike quality about them, with the mats, potpourri and such.
The camp kitchen was more fully supplied than could be expected - pots, pans, cutlery, crockery and even magazines!
And all that for less money than some of the worst, crowded places that we encountered on our trip.
