A good friend gave me this tip. So glad he did. Why camp at the rock. It's stupidly expensive and none of the grounds are anywhere near the rock. Stay here for 2 nights and do a day trip to the rock and Olga's like i did.
Place is just divine. I'm told it's busy in winter so if you're up for it come in summer. I did and had the whole ground to myself. Amenities are the best I've ever seen. Clean and endless hot water. All sites have shaded areas and are all well spaced. All you could need is there at the complex. Fuel. Bar. Food. And good food. Forget truck stop trash. This place has a better menu than some restaurants I've eaten at. Staff are both friendly and helpful. Had a wonderful time here. Would recommend to anyone. Pool is so lovely after a long day driving.

This is road house which is a truck stop with fuel and restaurant, a small store and rooms to rent. The rooms are bare boned basic rooms. There are not allot of options in the outback, so this was adequate fora one night sleep, but don't expect any creature comforts or amenities.

My hubby and i ( he is an ex truckie) had a wonderful time at Erldunda,
we only stopped to get fuel and a quick bite to eat and ended up meeting Rebel
the bar manager. She is such a character and so much fun she really looked after us
with the best service we have ever had and also makes a fantastic coffee as the sign says!!

We have had such bad service at other places and just want to let everyone know Erldunda
is a must stop place.

Cheers, Shelly and Macca

A sprawling complex some 200 kms south of Alice Springs on the Stuart Highway, at the turn-off to Uluru, offers a range of good clean basic motel rooms - no frills, utilitarian materials throughout, but adequate in all respects. Has an associated tavern [don't expect Michelin rated dishes, its pretty cafe basic], fast food diner, service station and a small provision shop.
I have stayed here several times over past 5 years; I have only used the rooms to sleep in and not sampled the resort facilities, but the room offering has been consistent. Tip: diesel [my 4x4 fuel] seems usually about twenty cents a litre more expensive here than Alice Springs to the north or Coober Pedy to the south - filling up elsewhere will be easier on the pocket.

Room Tip: Bed set up varies room to room - check out that what you are being offered meets your needs. South side units are away from the pool and "social" areas, so quieter.

Lost a tire on the highway towing a 20ft cabin cruiser, then got a puncture in the spare. This happened on a bend and we just had to pull over and stay there. Went back to the roadhouse and was told by the Asian woman, "Yes we have tire, you come back tomorrow and we sell to you"! No we need a tire now and we can't leave a boat on the highway where it is. " No you stay, we have cheap room $160. night .Men finish at 3.00pm so no tire now, you come back tomorrow". Are these people crazy!!! No-one can leave anything on the higway over night or it would be destroyed then burnt. If you are going to buy Rd Houses in the outback, learn the Aussie way. People die out there and when they need help they can't just come back tomorrow! 1 of us drove to Alice, where aussies helped us no end.
