This is our second stay at Crubenbeg cottages. We stayed in Douglas fir Cottage last year as it has two bedrooms as we took our children. Last week we stayed in Pine cottage as it was just us and the dog. Both cottages are so well equiped for your every need on holiday. Definately exceeds the describtion "Home from Home". Both cottages are decorated in a modern style but still have that warm cottage feel.
They were both fitted with LCD TVs with DVD player and a selection of dvds which was great for kids.
Both cottages were suppiled with loads of infomation about walks in surrounding area. We also had the nice added bonus of free WIFI which we had no trouble using.
The cottage is about 20mins from Aviemore which has Tescos and lots of places to eat including SKI-ING DOOs which do the most amazing steaks!!!
Its the perfect place to stay in scotland as its quiet for couples but still child/pet friendly. We hope to have many more holidays in scotland and plan to stay here everytime!!

Lovely and very pet friendly cottage, fabulous setting, wonderful area! We spent a great week tramping up mountains, striding through heather and drinking in the beautiful surroundings before going back to our little cottage for a long soak in the bath and red wine in front of the log burner!

Crubenbeg is the ideal place for exploring Cairngorm National Park, there is so much within a short travel distance in particular Woftrax, Aviemore and Cairngorms, Newtonmore Highland Life Museum, Clan McPherson Museum and Newtonmore Stables.
And on your doorstep there are excellent walks, I recommend just putting on your shoes and walking or cycling just to see where all the paths go!
The cottages themselves are comfortable and have all you need for a home from home atmosphere. The bathroom was especially modern and a good size. The addition of a wood burning fire is a cosy and comforting addition and definitely welcome after a day hillwalking or mountain biking. I believe that some upgrades are in the process of happening, such as televisions and ovens, which will only enhance the cottages.
The views from the cottages are wonderful and the ducks in the pond especially entertaining!
I would however recommend bringing your own tennis balls and shuttlecocks with you if you wish to have a game or two in the garden as there were none there when we visited which was a shame. Also the fishing rod was broken which was unfortunate as we did see the elusive trout in the evening.
My top tip for logging on to the free Wi-Fi is to park the car outside Douglas Fir Cottage (or sit on the bench) as reception elsewhere is decidedly dodgy due to the rural locality.
Cameron and Sian who are the owners are very pleasant and nothing is too much trouble for them, they certainly go out of there way to make you feel at home and answer any questions you have.
I was there with my family who included a 12 and 15 year old but I can see Crubenbeg appealing to couples looking for a romantic weekend away (autumn would be good) or for an older couple wanting a peaceful break.

This was our first trip to the Cairngorms and we have totally fallen in love with it! It was made all the more special by this fantastic accomodation. We stayed in Birch Cottage and it was really spacious to say it was for 2 people. The Woodburner was a real homely touch and made everything so cosy. The owners are very friendly and on site if needed. Can't wait to go back, hopefully for longer next time

We stayed for a relaxing week in Beach Cottage. The cottage has good quality furnishings, small kitchen (but fully functional and ok for preparing a few meals) and bathroom, good size bed in large bedroom with a pleasant lounge with woodburning stove.

There are 8 cottages located here and some may find it less private than they might like when visiting the Highlands.

We had a problem with our wood burning stove on the first night but this was fixed instantly by Cameron the owner - no complaints over the service.

No washing facilities in the cottage but a service wash facility is available if a little expensive.

The website indicates wireless internet was available and so we took our laptop with us - the internet is infact located centrally, signal strength non existance - we never got on the internet all week so a bit dissapointing.

Pets allowed and well catered for. Great advice on local golf courses of which there a number.

Overall a pretty good stay in a pleasant location close to the A9

Thanks to Cameron and Sian for a fantastic 5 day break in February 2009. The accomodation is home-from-home, spotlessly clean and comfortable. We were made extremely welcome by Cameron and Sian. The cottages are the perfect place for a quiet break or to take up some of the nearby activities. Many thanks for your hospitality.

Thanks Cam and Sian for a lovely time. It was just what we needed. Typical scottish weather for the time of year. If anyone wants hot sunshine they should go to the Med although I'm sure they wouldn't be able to surpass the excellent hospitality and scenery of your establishment.
Can't wait to come back in the summer. We might even take the kids next time.
Many thanks
