Excellent accommodaton, and very friendly people. just off the A9 was very easy to find. some great walks and not that far from the local village. would stay again.

Top tip, don't go the Happy Haggis, the food is very poor quality, cold, and small portions

Room Tip: from what i could see they are all good, but could ask for one overlooking the lake

Stayed 3 nights in Elm Cottage over Easter weekend. It was an amazing stay. The cottage feels like it is in the middle of nowhere but is just a short drive from the A9. The whole place is immaculate (cottage, outside areas and excellent games room). The people on site were friendly and informative and left us to our own devices after explaining how everything worked and how to find them if we needed anything. Short drive to Aviemore, the Highland Wildlife Park, Landmark and many other fun places. Our dog was welcome too, which made it even better. That said, there was no hint of that "doggy" smell you sometimes find in dog friendly accommodation - surely a sign of high quality cleaning and maintenance. We will certainly be going back.

The perfect location to escape from everything! We would happily come stay every year (or more! In fact we do). The landlord is very friendly and helpful, and lent us items such as fishing rods and advised us on places to eat. If you are renting a car, there is a cheap dealer in the nearby town of Kingussie called Westend Garages who are also very welcoming. The scenery around Crubenbeg is spectacular with many lovely walks up mountains and by lakes, and the cottage we stay in is so comfy, with wood burners and sofas to cuddle up on! If you come in the summer, there is a lovely garden for children with swings, a Wendy house, places for BBQ with brilliant view at the foot of a mountain. I would strongly recommend visiting here!

We have just returned home from a wonderful stay at Crubenbeg. We received a very warm, friendly welcome and Hazel cottage itself is truly beautiful with very picturesque surroundings. We loved the log burning fire, kept us warm all throughout the evening! The kids were kept entertained with the Playstation, dvd's, board games and in particular the wifi. The cottage was very clean and well equipped and certainly spacious enough for 6. The dog was allowed too so that was an added bonus for us! The cottages are in a good location, a short distance from the nearest town but still within easy reach of the mountains for skiing. All in all we had a fabulous stay, a real home from home experience! Many thanks to all at Crubenbeg xx

Superb cottages in a lovely location. Very helpful owners, very nice accommodation.
Have been 3 times already, and will be back again! Great place for walking the dog too!!
Very large, comfy bed plus loads of piping hot water!
Wife loved the 'automatic' log burner, heated the room in no time.
Very helpful folder with all the info you'd need on the surrounding area - might need to add a wee warning note for anyone trying to go up Cruben Beag, behind the cottages, it's awffy steep on the way down!!

This place is fantastic - the setting is truly magnificent.
The owners are warm welcoming hosts.
The cottage was comfortable and nicely decorated in a kind of modern Highland chic sort of a way. There are fantastic walks to be had from the front door - our dogs loved scrambling along the banks of the Falls of Truim (a dramatic waterfall sequence) for their morning walk which is minutes away, or for a wide range of activities, the Rothiemurchus Estate is a short drive up the A9.
Contrary to perception, the weather also appears to be pretty dry up there in the central Highlands (if a tad cold in February).
We loved this place and will certainly be back.
Highly recommend to anyone.

We stayed in Elm over Christmas and had a great time. Cottage was lovely, decorated nicely and the wood burning stove was really nice to come back to after being outside in the cold. We had our dog and it was a great place to go for walks with him.

It was great location wise as just off the A9 and only a short distance to Newtonmore, Kingussie and Aviemore a little further afield. A great base for touring.

Would also recommend the Wildcat Trails in Newtonmore for walking and enjoying the scenery no matter what time of year.
