“The best B & B ever.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 31, 2013

Very comfortable with all the extra touches - robes, chocolates, mineral water etc. We received a warm welcome and were served tea and home baked cake. Good location with walks nearby. We took our dogs who were made very welcome and were able to join us in the lounge after dinner for coffee. Highly recommend this for a stop over.

C, Many thanks indeed for taking the time to post your review and thanks, too, for being so kind about your time with us. Here's hoping that you all had a great time on your holidays, despite the walks not being as long as you'd hoped. Fingers crossed that the hound's scar is healing up nicely too. TTFN.

This is a really great B&B and is more like a country House Hotel than what you may expect from a B&B. Quality throughout with comfortable beds, thoughtful touches like chocolates and bathrobes in the room and lots more. The lounge is very spacious and comfortable and the setting is spectacular - although you are close to the A9 the house is set far enough back from the road that you are totally unaware of it. Food was excellent, dinner and breakfast are taken round a large dining table with the other guests with a few jokes and stories thrown in by mine host as he was serving which all made for an enjoyable evening. They are licensed so you can have a bottle of wine and a wee dram or whatever takes your fancy! Great walks just outside the front door. Highly recommend this place on every level.

P, C, T & J,

Many thanks indeed for taking the time to "put your kind thoughts on paper". It was a real joy having you all stay with us and we hope that a certain canine's "war wound" is well on the mend.

Until next we meet, all the very best.

My wife and I picked Crubenbeg House because we wanted somewhere comfortable to stay close to the A9 while travelling north, and, for this it's absolutely ideal; it's only a short distance from the main road, but it is very quiet and peaceful. Our room was large and comfortable, and the evening meal and breakfast were both very good.

The only possible word of warning is that this is very much the kind of B&B where you chat with your hosts and with your fellow guests, and all guests eat at the same table. So it might not be a very good choice if, for example, you're taking a discreet holiday with somebody else's spouse.... But, if that's not an issue for you, (it wasn't for us) we recommend Crubenbeg House very strongly.

We booked a room at relatively short notice and hadn't done our homework on the surrounding area at all. We stayed for 3 nights in possibly the best place I've ever visited! Such a beautiful setting, with amazing rooms and amenities owned by two very lovely, warm and kind people. John and Irene were very knowledgeable about the local area which made us get the most out of our time in Newtonmore. The house has a friendly and warm atmosphere and you have access to up-to-date and useful information about places to eat, visit, walk etc. The breakfast menu catered to all tastes with the food being simply out of this world!!! And we invited to have dinner with John and Irene whenever we liked. Raj (the dog) was very welcoming too, escorting us to our room at night and greeting us in the morning! We were very impressed with the room we stayed in, with everything exceeding expectations! Would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat as we experienced such a peaceful, relaxing and well-looked after stay!

Last day we stayed just for one night here. Welcome was very friendly. Before dinner we drank some pints together with the other guests in the lovely sitting room with an open fire. The dinner after was superb! Not just the taste but also the creative arrangements.

But the dinner was nothing compared to the awesome breakfast! You have to try it!

Bedroom was also very nice. Huge room with an also huge and good looking bathroom. Perfect and relaxing night.

This has to be one of the best places I have ever stayed, and I’ve stayed in a few. The house is set in a beautiful location with views of the mountains. We received a very warm welcome from John and Irene and Rajah the dog. They did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We stayed in the Stag bedroom that was lovely and cosy with a four-poster bed, view over the mountains and a very nice en-suite bathroom. The living room was comfy with an open log fire and we were offered tea and cake in the afternoon. Irene was knowledgeable about nearby walking routes and they were helpful in lending maps and providing advice. They even offered to drop us off at our starting point. The choice of breakfast was absolutely fantastic and the quality of the food was great. All in all, a wonderful place to stay with very friendly, helpful hosts and great food. You’d be mad not to stay here if you’re in the area.

Two delightful people own this bed and breakfast. John and Irene will make you feel very welcome. This is a beautiful location if you are looking for a quiet restful vacation. Irene's breakfast menu is very impressive and absolutely delicious. John will make you feel at ease as he is very chatty and you will be sure to enjoy your stay with them. Extremely reasonable, of very high quality. All of your needs are catered for with well furnished extremely clean and comfortable rooms.

Room Tip: All of the rooms at the Crubenbeg are of a very high standard, there is a four poster room on offer...
