“A place to return to”
Reviewed August 21, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

This was the perfect first long stop during our walking tour of The Highlands. It is such a peaceful and beautiful setting that one cannot help but relax. Anne and Iain who reside on the property are lovely hosts who maintain just the right amount of assistance if needed while at the same time leaving guests to enjoy the solitude. We stayed for a week but it could have been more. Newtonmore is a very central spot to embark on many breathtaking walks and the close neighbouring town of Kingussie is a delightful easy half day's walk away through magnificent territory.
The cottage is well stocked with welcoming tea/coffee/biscuits etc as well as a comfortable lounge and kitchen with more than everything one needs for self catering. There are books, TV and wifi and a very homely feel to the living area as well as good heating. The bedroom and bathroom of this cottage are small but adequate and the bedroom has a lovely window looking directly into a climbing rosebush. Barn cottage is most suited to a couple. There is excellent food from one of the local pubs we tried if you dont want to cook and the village is worth exploring. Highly recommended for a quiet getaway.

we had a two night stay in this lovely cottage step out of the door and you really are in the highlands , a great view and a well furnished and comfortable cottage . Anne brigden is a lovely helpfull host and no questions are too much trouble.surrounding areas are superb for wildlife walking and the great outdoors. Plenty of tea ,coffee etc already in cottage on arrival .We will return probably in springtime and would recommend this cottage as exellent value for money.
