Sitting on the top of a hill you will see these impressive barracks. Free entry too. It gets lit up and night and that is truly beautiful.

These are just off the main road (A9) and are interesting if you are keen on the Jacobite risings or just old military buildings. This is an unmanned and free attraction that has good and simple interpretation on site and explains the buildings, positioning and context of the barracks. Worth seeing in conjunction with Culloden Battlefield.

We can imagine the invaders and the Scottish soldiers fighting around this spectacular building: the visit is free and a lot of people enjoy this place every time

Well worth coming off the A9 for a quick half hour visit of these amazing ruins! They're free and impressive. There's information on the walls to tell you about the barracks. We went with 2 boys (aged 5 & 3) and they loved it - safe enough for them to be running around and pretending to be soldiers! It's a bit exposed on the hill though, so best to try and time a visit with the sunshine!

We love this place, great for playing hide and seek with the kids whilst learning a little about the history of these old Barracks. Open to explore and with stunning views. Worth a couple of hours.
