“An interesting concept for a hotel.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2013 via mobile

Stayed one night at crash pad whilst staying in Thorpe park. The hotel itself is best described as a giant porta-cabin made out of metal. Overall stay was comfortable, cheap, and within the grounds of the park. Downside, very little privacy, and definitely only a place to get your head down for the night.

My boyfriend and I stayed here on 11th July. We live a 4 hour drive away, so needed somewhere to stay and noticed this on Thorpe Park's website. It cost us £135 for the night and two day theme park tickets. We checked in about 4ish after a few hours in the park. Check in staff were friendly and we thought the crash pad was ideal. Exactly what it says it is. Very clean, well equipped and right in the park. We had a room overlooking the lake which had lovely views. We ate in Bar 360 and both enjoyed the food. Again, staff were friendly and put on a quiz. The next day we were given three fast ride passes as the park was busy. This was a great addition to the stay. We had the free continental breakfast which was great. Would stay again!

We've just got back after a fantastic stay at The Crash Pad.

When we booked we were aware of the 'shipping container' concept of the hotel and weren't expecting much to be fair.

After a 200 mile trip to Thorpe Park, we arrived just in time for the park opening at 10am. We went into the park and spent a gorgeously sunny day enjoying the rides, before checking in at 2am. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, everything was perfectly explained to us, and we were given wristbands to wear during our stay.

We were shown to our room by a very polite lady. Although the room are small, they have everything you need for a good stay. Small bathroom, double bed, two smaller beds and a TV on the wall. The air-con is incredible and well needed with temperatures reaching almost 30 degrees.

Location wise the hotel again is brilliant, it is actually inside Thorpe Park, just next to the Dome were there was a quiz at night and a bar open til late serving food and drink. It wasn't even that expensive considering it's a theme park, at around £3.60 a pint.

The next day we were given an A4 sheet and explained that because of the amount of school children at the park that day all Crash Pad guests were being given a free fast pass for a ride of their choice - great! We took the A4 sheet to Guest Services to be given 3 fast track passes, great when the queues were big. Also, The Swarm opened at 9.15am, which gave hotel guests 15 minutes to enjoy the ride before the gates opened to the public. Because the Crash Pad is only small, we were allowed to go round no less than 5 times without even leaving our seats!!

You can come and go as much as you want, with a separate entrance to the park for Crash Pad guests. Guests also get free parking, just show your wristband at the exit to waive the usual £5 parking fee.

Breakfast was good, continental but a good selection of cereals, croissants, toast, fruit, juices, tea and coffee.

All in all a fantastic stay, so much better than we were expecting, and we can't wait to go back again!!

Me and my boyfriend stayed here on the 4th June 2013 for our anniversary and had such a lovely couple of days. We got a great offer for a day at the park+ 1 free day and then a night at the crash pad with breakfast. The rooms are small but so cosy and we thought they were brilliant! Our room did get extremely hot and the air con wasn't really doing much and the shower flooded and also that horrendous noise when you attempt to flush the toilet. But this wasn't much of a problem and didn't affect our stay. Really lovely food aswell, we had burgers and chips followed by some cocktails and it was brilliant! Really nice staff there when we checked in and out, couldn't fault the customer service!

Had a brilliant stay here and would recommend!

They are really small, our air con didn't work and four people in that really small space in the hot weather wasn't nice, and you can honestly see through the bathroom doors which is embarrassing, however apart from that it's not to bad. Nice breakfast in the morning, good evening entertainment, we had a quiz and jenga, ping pong etc. We were let into the part on the second day 30 minutes early and two rides were open for us to go on, that was good, and then we were able to get first in line for Swarm on the second day which meant we cut out the 100 minute waiting time haha!
As there were lots of schools there when we went, we were given some fast track tickets for free to use on the second day, so that was great.
It was worth it, and I'm glad I went. Even though it's not 100% it's good because you get two days in the park and it's good value for money!
And the staff were really, really lovely too!
We were not allowed to keep our door open, and as there were no windows and the air con wasn't working that was bad..

It is a little strange that one thing that Thorpe Park has - lots of space - has not been utilised in the construction of its on-site hotel. I asked the hotel receptionist about why the rooms were so small - they are like economy cabins on a ferry, complete with porthole style window on the door (and no other window) - and she said that this was part of the concept, a "crash pad" where you would just go to dream because you would spend most of your time screaming on the rides.

There is something in this. It was good to be in the park at 9.30 in the morning and get to the front of the queue for the first ride. They also gave us 3 fast track tickets so that we could reduce queueing time later in the day when it got crowded. (I suspect the number of fast track tickets varies according to expected guest numbers at the park).

You are pretty much obliged to eat at the Bar 360. It's OK, styles food as "pub fayre" and the fixed price for two is good value, as long as you like burgers, sausages, etc. Not much for vegetarians beyond the curry. Continental breakfast is fine, too, and served in the 360, just on the edge of the park. I doubt if many people stay more than one night.

Room Tip: Choose one facing the lake (numbers mostly in the 20s).

The crash pad is exactly what it says on the tin and I have to be honest, I was impressed with the way the rooms were kitted out. My only issue is that the bathroom door is not brilliant for privacy so you will have to be very comfortable with the people you are sharing with. As for park entry we were let in early, but so to were people who hadn't stayed, which makes you feel a little cheated, but the 3 lots of queue jumps soon changed that! I also think that a full cooked breakfast should be part of the package as it's not obvious when you book that it's only continental and the cooked breakfast is poor for the upgrade price. The evening entertainment was non existent which was a big let down. Overall though I enjoyed my stay, would go again and would recommend to a friend!
