The queues here....... I couldn't believe I'm waiting 90 minutes plus,in the heat for an extreme ride:/( someone fainted In 1 queue but I couldn't see Any emergency exits to get out of a ride queue and I then saw a young lad trying to get through to assist after a few minutes, but very worrying.
So..., 10- till 6 and four rides sums up my day, rest was standing waiting in a queue
Summary if you can afford fast passes on top of entry price, pay it! You will get priority on the popular extreme rides, otherwise it's wait, wait, wait, and to finish off its £5 to get out of car park!
Positives: they do tell you at the ride entry point how long you will be waiting.
The park is clean.
Food reasonably priced
Rides are great once you get on

If you check my other 119 reviews, you will see that it is extremely rare for me to give a poor review. I love to see businesses doing well as we all benefit in the economy.

Unfortunately, I have nothing good to say about Thorpe Park so if you love the place, do not read on.

The PROs: NONE, absolutely none.
The CONs: Nothing about this park is about the customer. Nothing. Staff are on a power trip and aim to control the park guests. There are too many people allowed in the park which inevitably leads to longer queues, particularly when some rides are closed. The park never opens before 10am which is crazy as staying open later in the evening instead does not suit most people, particularly families. The only reason we stuck it out for six hours was because we'd travelled from Ireland and had paid so much for the tickets and staying an extra day in the UK just to visit the park. About the rides - we have been in amusement parks all over the world and go primarily for the extreme thrill rides. Contrary to their documentation, there are NO extreme thrill rides at Thorpe Park so if you are used to American amusement parks, don't waste your money at this awful place. A couple of the 'better' rides weren't operating but you only knew this when you'd eventually found your way around to them. Ridiculous queue times and wrongly stated times at the start of the queues. You'd be queuing for the time stated when you'd realise you would have to queue that long again before you got your turn. We timed the rides and they were all for much less time than stated in their literature. We got on 4 rides in 6 hours. Every ride went off with empty seats, in some cases FULL rows of empty seats! With the ride staff so unpleasant, you didn't dare point that out. Rare to find a staff member anywhere throughout the general areas of the park so the rules of the park were not enforced. And you see NO management whatsoever. The clientele of the park generally seemed to be of a particular 'type'. We're not anti-teenager but 'gangs' of bad mannered inconsiderate and cheeky teenagers were the main body of people there-we felt quite nervous of them, particularly as they swore loudly and smoked in every queue we were in, right under the 'do not smoke in the queue' signs I might add. There were also the 'hoodie' types who were way overdressed for the heat and may have been pickpocketing based on how many of them seemed to be in trouble with security. Then there were the 10-12 year olds in groups of up to 10 or 12. These would push through the queues to queue jump, fibbing to the long suffering queuers that their parents were waiting for them at the front. This queue jumping is also against the rules of the park but not enforced. There were signs saying people should not sit on queue fences but because people were so weary on their legs, in the heat, after an hour or more, some people did sit on them - mostly younger children who tire more easily. They were barked at over a tannoy by the staff operating the ride. Pity the same staff didn't embarass the smokers into putting their cigarettes out.To our horror, alcohol was on sale in the park. I would strongly advise people with small children not to visit this park unless they don't mind them listening to foul language, watching people spit, breathing in smoke or being in the presence of hoodies being carted off by the park's security team. What staff we did encounter were disinterested, rude, bossy and clearly not happy in their jobs - there was the odd exception to this but not enough to 'write home about'. There are no directional signs in the park so you wander aimlessly trying to find your way to the rides - the map is unreadable and unintelligible and as previously stated, no staff to ask. We were three hours without a map by the way because we had booked online and so weren't offered one at the entrance and the shops in the park don't have supplies.Temperatures were in the high 20's, humidity and searing sun on top of us in the queues. The queue width on most rides would easily have accommodated icecream/drinks sellers. Litter was a problem throughout the park and the wasps had a field day, along with terrifying people in the queue. We ate lunch at the Calypso BBQ where no staff member wore gloves and handled burger buns etc. Tables were not clean and staff were disinterested and left food sit at the counter for longer than was necessary. Happily, the day came to an end, when we just could not spend another minute in a queue and so we headed toward the carpark, only to realise that there were extremely few markings so we went in search of our car, meeting many other exasperated car owners wandering aimlessly around the park also looking for their vehicles! When we finally found the car, there were no exit signs so we just has to drive around and around trying to find the exit. Then our carpark ticket wouldn't scan. There was one staff member on the barriers and he had to help about half of the drivers get out! We had visited TP many years ago and found it enormously different to this time. We have also visited Chessington and Alton Towers many years ago and had planned to revisit them next year but we have most definitely decided against visiting ANY park in the UK after our horrendous experience on Friday 30th August. Being in the school holidays should be irrelevant as they should have a cutoff quota of visitors to the park on any day offpeak or on. If you like a nice, safe, good value, pleasant day out where you feel welcome as a customer, you should choose somewhere other than Thorpe Park.

Visited on Saturday for the last time
a) Had to wait for one & a half hours just to get in
b) They charge £5.00 for parking (Not widely advertised) & due to the exit barriers it took one & a half hours to leave (Much tooting of horns, cue jumping and angry drivers). You pay and get inconvenienced
c) Was over charged at the entrance by £40 on a party of 5 – When I realised as I walked away they ticket office was very nice but took another 20 minutes to put right
d) Litter all over the place (Much of it sun bleached so it had been there for many weeks)
e) All the waiting times were about 60 minutes – So reluctantly tried to get Fast track tickets but these were only available on a couple of variations.
f) Water in 2 out of the three toilets I used was not working properly & my partner saw used tampon lying on the floors of two toilets.
g) I managed 5 rides in the eight hours I was there (Approximately 20 minutes of rides in 480 minutes there)
h) Service & hygiene at the food stands was sadly terrible

If you looked at the people waiting to get onto the rides there were no looks of eager anticipation – Just boredom

The total bill for the day for 5 of including petrol to get there, tickets, fast track & food. About £400 for the one day. Value for money no!

Me and my partner came to Thorpe park in march 2013 as a surprise for his birthday, it was brilliant, all the rides were amazing, because it had only been open a few days it was near enough empty and no queue times on any of the rides so we certainly got our moneys worth, we stayed 1 night in a hotel as a package that we got through the Thorpe parks website that was real value for money, (Hilton hotel) the parks certainly worth a visit.

Went here last week whilst on a break in London. We purchased the tickets online a few days prior to going, for about £25, and they were discounted by 44% at this price.

We arrived at the park around 9am, an hour before it opened and the queues of people waiting to gain access to the park were already massive. We got in at 10am and got in line for the first roller coaster. The queues for the first two rides were small and moved quickly. However, this was short lived. All the other queues we joined were 1.5-2 hours long.

We priced the fast track tickets and they were a ridiculous £70 each. Needless to say, we let them keep them. There was an option to buy individual fast track passes for some rides, and these were priced at £5/£6 each. We decided to purchase these for two roller coasters we really wanted to go on. We purchased the first two and went straight to the top of the queue and were on the ride after 5-10 minutes. However, when we went to purchase the other fast track passes at 2pm, we were told the next available time for fast track pass holders would be at 5.45pm, which didn't suit as we didn't plan to stay there that long.

All in all, whilst I really enjoyed the roller coasters we went on, I was disappointed with the day. We spent almost 7 hours in the park. An hour of this was spent having lunch. The other 6 hours were spent standing in ridiculously long queues. We went on 6 or 7 of the rides and left the park around 4.30 because we had had enough of standing around. I dont see myself going back.
