We wanted to revisit the Forest of Dean area after enjoying 5 days there last July so booked into the Forest View Guest House using Laterooms.com. as we liked the idea of staying in Symonds Yat itself. We stayed for 2 days midweek in May. Forest View definitely lives up to all its Tripadvisor reviews. We stayed in Room 6 with a lovely downstream view of the River Wye. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was very good as was the evening meal we had.The dining room also has lovely river views as does the garden if the weather is warm enough. We enjoyed a walk along the River Wye and saw 3 deer, and also went into the Forest to search (unsuccessfully again!) for wild boar We really didn't want to go home and felt very relaxed after our stay. We hope to return soon.

Room Tip: Choose a room with river view. We stayed in Room 6 which looked downstream which we felt a prettier...

My wife and I stayed at the Forest View guest house over the May Day Bank holiday.
The Guest house is under new management from when we last went, however it still has a friendly feel about it.
We always find this to be a relaxing weekend away.
The room was clean and the bed comfortable.
We also enjoyed the breakfast in the morning.
Being the Bank Holiday, Symonds Yat was crowded, we tried to get a drink at the Saracens Head but it was full.
We went back to the guest house and had a baguette and a pint, both very nice and reasonable value.
It was quieter at the guest house and we were able to sit outside at a table under the sun.
All in all just the break we were looking for.

It was the first time we'd stayed in the area. The view from the bay window in the bedroom (room 4) was really quite stunning and took in the whole river panorama. With the window open at night all we were aware of was the sound of the river. Everything was clean, comfortable and in good working order. The food was good, breakfast and evening meal. The staff were welcoming and we felt thoroughly looked after. There are also lots of forest and river walk options here right from the front door.

I tried several other places close to the Forest of Dean but The Forest View has to be the most relaxing, friendly and inviting place that i have stayed in.
If you are thinking of a place to stay in that region i cannot recommend anywhere else.
The food was beautiful especially the lamb shank - The beer is very well priced and what a setting to enjoy it - either sitting out on the terrace , the dinning area or at the bar having a chat.
The room was so comfortable and clean and the view was stunning.
To go to the Forest of Dean and not stay at Forest View means that you have missed something special.
Gill and John you made me feel at home in yours - i will return thank you for a fantastic stay

Room Tip: room 2 has a fantastic view over the river

We stayed here for 2 nights over Easter.

The location is superb - right on the banks of the river Wye.

The room was spotless and had a beautiful river view.

We were made to feel very welcome by the owners and staff. Very generous breakfasts too.

This is an ideal spot for a break in a beautiful part of the country. We will definitely return and would happily recommend.
