We have just returned from a great two night stay and have nothing but praise for this lovely establishment. It is in a magnificent setting being raised up from the road in Symonds Yat and has lovely gardens and a terrace from which to enjoy the magnificent views of the river Wye and the village. We were in room 2 and had superb views up, down and across the river. The room was very clean, comfortable and well presented. The shower room was small but very well set out. There is a comfortable lounge and bar area on the ground floor. The dining room is spacious and laid out to take advantage of the river views.

At breakfast there were cereals, fruit, yogurt and juices available and breakfasts ( which you order the night before) were cooked to order. Tea, coffee and toast are freely available, We also had a two course evening meal which was well cooked and good value.

The owners were very welcoming and keen to do anything they could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.

We had a lovely time and would thoroughly recommend Forest View.

Room Tip: Room 2 has wonderful views up, down and across the river

My husband and I stayed at Forest View for just one night, celebrating his 40th birthday.Situated in such a lovely location, it was the perfect and only wished we could have stayed longer, being the ideal base for exploring Symonds Yat. On arrival, we were greeted by Gill who gave us a tour of the guest house, extremely helpful. Our room was just perfect with everything we required, overlooking the beautiful River Wye. Enjoyed a drink at the bar in the evening, and a wonderful breakfast in the morning, all staff are so friendly and polite. Would absolutely stay again, and have already passed on contact details for this wonderful place to stay. Wishing Forest View all the very best for the summer.

We only stayed one night but would have liked to stay longer. Our hosts made us feel very welcome. It is not the ideal spot to arrive by canoe, although they would have been happy to store our canoe if we had been able to carry it the distance. However, the canoe centre in Symonds Yat could not have been more helpful - they stored our canoe alongside theirs in a secure lock-up. We had a huge room, with great views of the river and lovely freshly cooked breakfast.

Room Tip: Room 12 is large with good views, lovely bathroom but only a hand held shower.

The fluffy towels, cups & saucers with plenty of tea & coffee supplied daily, a bottle of spring water, lovely décor and truly amazing views making the room so very comfortable, gave me an indication of how Gill & Jon were willing to go the extra mile to make my stay as pleasurable as possible. Add to this a first class breakfast with a selection to suit everyone, the option of a very good value, set menu evening meal at only £12.50 plus a relaxing, well stocked bar & I had everything to make this a delightful base to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside... a perfect break & I will definitely be back.

Enjoyed our 6 night stay with Gill and John very much. Gill bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable. Beautiful view of river from our window, very large room with king size very comfortable bed and plenty of storage space. Hand held shower over bath a bit of a nuisance but we knew about it when we booked. Toilet seat didn't fit very well but otherwise everything was brilliant. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again. The road is very narrow to get in and out of Symonds Yat but if you take your time, there are no problems as there are plenty of passing places and everyone is road friendly.

Room Tip: Room 12 is exceptionally large with king size bed and beautiful bathroom

An enjoyable 4 days with ever changing scenery from our room and the dinning area.
The river was in flood and was amazing to watch. Excellent B/fast and E/meals. Very relaxing stay. Thanks John and Gill for your warm hospitality. We hope to return. Alan and June.

Room Tip: Rooms have good views of River.

Stayed 1 night 30 June 2012. Great location with free car parking - room had fantastic views up and down the river. Sadly felt owners could have done more to make us feel welcome. Found John very unaccommodating bordering on rude and as a result we decided to eat at the Saracens Head which was a great dining experience. In the morning there were problems with the water pressure and the hand held shower was useless. In our opinion this did not represent good value for money and we would only go there for the view!

Room Tip: Room 5 good for views - but thats all
