Stayed here for my partners birthday night on Fri 17 May 2013. Numerous visits as the title suggests. Yet again, welcomed like old friends. Arrived lunch time, few drinks, and a stunning lunch for us both. I had the beer battered cod, my partner had the "moules" Bar staff and waitering staff were second to none, and were all professional, respectful and polite, and were a credit to The Saracens Head. We stayed in Room 10, which was spotless, with clean, crisp white linen on the beds, and stunning soft towels to dry off in after a shower.
Dinner was fantastic, my steak was juicy and tender, and cooked to perfection, my partners duck was exquisite. This was complemented by a stunning Moko New Zealand wine, which was recommended by the friendly waitress. Although we are regulars here, the owners, Pete and Chris Rollinson maintain excellent standards, and run a well tuned, totally perfect hotel / bar and restaurant. I, personally, would recommend this hotel to eat, drink and stay at. Im not saying this as a frequent returnee, but a 100% totally satisfied customer. We will see you again in the not too distant future. Paul & Kirsty.

Room Tip: All rooms equally great standard.

We did not stay at the hotel we just came for lunch on the Sunday very busy but we did manage to get a table. The table was dirty and no one attempted to clean it so we did it ourselves putting the glasses etc on the bar which received strange looks from the bar staff.Ordered our food and waited for ages when it arrived it came in relays there was seven of us two meals came one without the chips ordered with it, ten minutes later three more, still no chips.
Next meal arrived after another ten minutes, we had been asking all along where the other meals and chips were to be told rather abruptly they were on the way. Finally one of us went to the bar to see where the last meal was and the chips to be told they had forgotton them and would have to go and cook them no apology l might add. By now everyone else had eaten
and my poor daughter was left eating on her own. We were made to feel really uncomfortable, the staff were surly and seemed to take pleasure in slamming the food down on the table. It was a shame because the food was excellent
and the hotel itself is beautiful could just do with better staff.

Just one night but we shall certainly return. Excellent river view room, looking over the ferry to Symond's Yat West. Decent size shower for once and good sized bedroom with comfortable bed. Meals were outstanding and service first class; a real sense that people wanted you to enjoy all aspects of the stay. Food highlights included lamb three ways, plaice and shellfish en papillotte, and superb smoked haddock for breakfast. Portions were generous and there was that nice combination of taste and style which made it a bit special. We were visiting the RHS Malvern show and the Saracen's Head is well within easy distance.

Room Tip: most rooms have a river view; in that location you would want nothing else

Excellent inn in this lovely part of the world. Service was great - nothing was too much trouble and the staff couldn't do enough for you. Food was great - had good meals all the time wqe were there. Had a four day break with my daughter - very scenic spot with plenty of lovely walks. Would definitely recommend it to all our friends.

Room Tip: If available a room facing the River is good with very lovely views.

We stayed at this lovely place for one night the weather was beautiful so we had lunch and a few beers outside overlooking the river.
We can recommend the boat trip really good value for £6 per adult.
Our room was clean and overlooked the river (room 2)
We had a wonderful meal in the restaurant and all the staff were so friendly and nothing was too much bother and they automatically save you a table when you stay the night.
The breakfast choice was amazing they catered for all choices and you certainly wouldn't go home hungry.
Our one regret was that we couldn't have stayed another night but unfortunately ran out of days.

I would definately recommend the Saracens Head in its idealic setting and freindly staff.

We stayed here on a Friday and Saturday night in April and had a fantastic time! The location is breathtaking, right next to the river with views around the valley.

Our room was compact but comfortable, with crisp white linen and fluffy towels. Everything was very fresh and clean. As our room was over the main part of the pub, and looking out to the river, it was a little noisy, but once the bar shuts at 11pm it quietens down!

There are 6 different real ales on tap, plus a huge selection of bottled ciders. The wine list is varied and interesting, and there is a large range of soft drinks and juices.

We had dinner at the pub both evenings. If you're staying in the pub a table is automatically reserved for you in the residents dining room, which is good, as all tables in the pub - both inside and out - were packed to the rafters! It's obviously a very popular place.

We both had steaks, which were easily the best steaks we'd ever had! Cooked to perfection and a good sized piece of meat. The chips were fantastic too and very plentiful. All rounded off with a nice bottle of Malbec. The steaks were the most expensive thing on the menu (£18-£20), the rest of mains are around £10-£15, so not outrageous. In fact, the food and wine were both so good we ate exactly the same the next night!

Breakfast was excellent - juices, cereal, yoghurts, and fresh fruit to start and then a choice of cooked. Full English, smoked haddock, kippers, smoked salmon. All freshly cooked and delicious! Tea and coffee is good too and the friendly staff are very efficient and happily provide refills if you want more.

The Saracens Head is literally half a mile from Symonds Yat rock. There's a lovely woodland walk (uphill!) if you turn left out of the inn and then follow the signposts. There's a stunning viewpoint and details of walks you can do.

The only small niggle is the parking at the inn - there are 5 (free) spaces which are notionally reserved for residents, but as it gets so busy it's a bit of a free for all. The rest of the parking in the area is pay and display between 8am-6pm. Both evenings (fortunately we arrived after 6pm) we had to park in the P&D and then play 'hawks' in the beer garden and watch and and wait for one of the Saracens Head spaces to become free! (If only to avoid getting out of bed at 8am to move it or to pay for parking!).

We had a lovely time, and can't wait for a return visit - thanks Pete and the rest of the team!
