Have stayed here several times over the years and also used it as a local pub when we lived in the area.

The surrounding countryside and general location is simply stunning, with river, rapids, forest walks, cycling, canoeing, rock climbing, caving and river cruises. It's Tourism the old fashioned way and this side of the River has been completely rejuvenated over the past two decades by the owners of this lovely old Inn.

Food is great, slightly expensive but you do pay for the location as well.. beer always well looked after and a good variety of local ales and snacks.. think Wye Valley Brewery and Tyrells snacks.

You get some great Black Country banter from the owners Chris and Pete who will always greet you with a smile and most likely a joke or two.

Rooms are small but very well appointed with a rural feel, cleanliness is spot on and the river views really make the stay special. Waking up to the sound of river rapids and surrounding wildlife is a relaxing experience. You can sometimes see peregrins, deer, bears and even the odd boar, I'm not joking about the last one (see signs at the Biblins bridge).

Walks in the woodland here are just sublime and you can find old lime kilns and prehistoric caves In Symonds Yat West which can be reached by the olde hand drawn ferry or.. across the Biblins rope bridge further down stream.

Symonds Yat simply would not be the same without this pub and the present owners help make it. Pete's breakfasts are hearty and cooked to perfection.

Room Tip: Try and book a river-view room, and ask for stories about “Animal” the old singing ferry man, his co...

We did not stay at The Saracens Head but ate there twice over the last week- both lunch and dinner. The food was wonderful, and it was good to see some unusual and thoughtful vegetarian options. Everything we ordered both at lunch and dinner was well cooked and presented...and there was lots of it! We also loved their dog friendliness, inside at the bar and out.

My advice would be not to have a starter, unless you can eat a LOT, and try the house Sauvignon Blanc, it's great! I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Just back from another outstanding stay at the Saracens Head - without a doubt, our favourite place to stay in this neck of the woods. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel like old friends, and the service throughout our stay was superb once again. The hotel is perfect in the summer months, where you can sit outside and watch the world go by, or go for a nice long walk - and during the winter months, it is so cosy with its real fires and beautiful internal features.
The food as always, was simply gorgeous - and is largely locally sourced where possible. Although it was probably the busiest we have ever seen it, there were plenty of staff who coped brilliantly, and this by no means affected the quality of superb service we received. Stayed in the recently refurbished room 4 this time, which is at the rear of the hotel - but to be honest, all of the rooms we have stayed in here are spotlessly clean and equally comfortable - this room was no exception. Thanks to all for another lovely stay, and we'll be back again soon - Paul and Kirsty

Room Tip: all the rooms we have stayed in here are equally good - only difference is that some are larger than...

Amazing service, phenomenal views, spectacular food..... I'm still stuffed from lunch! Will keep coming back until we have tried all the rooms!! We have eaten here so many times in the past and we have NEVER been disappointed! If booking for a family or as a couple, there is more than enough locally to keep you busy :). First class!

Third time stay. It never disappoints. Beautiful location beside the River Wye right under Symonds Yat rock and in the gorgeous Wye Valley. Accommodation superb and the food to die for. Cooked to order so don't expect a rushed meal. Staff very helpful and friendly. The Upper Boathouse is well worth paying extra for. It keeps faithful to its roots as a hikers water hole pub whilst providing AA 4 star accomodation and is worth every one of them. Stone slab floors and wooden dining tables - no fancy table cloths here. The breakfasts are superb too. Well worth finding this gem.

Room Tip: Most are river facing - well worth having. Best are rooms 10 and the Upper Boathouse.

Stayed one night B&B in a twin room, friendly welcome, I accept that its an old building with all the quirks that that brings however, we were somewhat disappointed by the size of the room and fabric - it wasn't big - the ensuite was equally small and basic (couldn't fully open the ensuite door) - it hit the chest of drawers - could be difficult if someone had an access or mobility problem - nice view though from the window - had to move a chair to hang clothes in wardrobe - my bed had quite a slope not that it stopped me from sleeping

as they seem to be on a program of room refurbishment hopefully this room is on the list

the room we were in was above the bar door and similar to another reviewer the door banging as it closed was very noticeable in the evening - but it wasn't a problem later on when settling down for sleep perhaps in a busy summer it may be

wifi just about reached to the room but welcome all the same

breakfast was very good - served in the restaurant (service good)

the biggest disappointment was the dinner (service was also a bit patchy) - for a restaurant that prides itself on quality food I'm afraid it just wasn't - the quality of the main courses and starters do not justify the prices charged however the dessert was very good - perhaps its having a captive audience with the views that commands a premium
