Upon stepping up to bar, despite the que being only one deep, i was not spoken to for six minutes and neither did I receive any form of acknowledgement. Pub staff get busy but a quick glance to say 'afternoon' or 'won't be a minute' isn't difficult - anything else is simply rude. A classic lazy flaw in this otherwise nice looking pub.

One of our favourite pubs, huge fires and amazing food (the baked cambert is a must!). It is quite pricey but is in such a lovely setting it is well worth it.

We stayed in a log cabin nearby, this place was recommended on the website so thought we would have a nice long walk, we put our scruffs on and off we went through the muddy forest..got there and can't deny the location is absolutely beautiful by the river! However, when we walked in, we were looked at like we were tramps!! We had walked through the forest for christs sake!! It cost £8.60 for a red wine and a pint of..fosters (not even an expensive lager!!) we then wanted to continue with our walk but that meant asking for someone to take us on the "hand ferry" we were told 5-10 mins, after 15 mins, I went to see where our man was to be told the next "ferry" left in another 10 mins when "another group" would be ready....the posh knob group with the suits!!!!! We didn't bother waiting and will definitely not be going back! A lesson to be learnt Saracens inn....don't judge a book by it's cover!!

We are sorry that this reviewer did not have a pleasant experience at the Saracens Head Inn,
however, we wish to respond to their points;
the majority of our customers ( in the daytime ) have been walking, cycling, fishing or canoeing
therefore we would certainly not be deliberatly rude to customers because of their attire - we
would be out of business years ago if this was the case !
Operating the ferry is quite hard work - so we do ask people to wait a while - otherwise we would be constantly back and forth. Most people don't mind this.
A large glass ( 250ml ) of wine is priced at £ 5.20 and Fosters lager at £ 3.20 - a fair price for the area we think.
