We stayed at Paddock cottages, John the owner and his wife were both very pleasant and helpful. The cottages are in a secluded setting yet close to all amenities, the cottage was very clean and well equiped and we enjoyed our weekend away very much. Only sad that we had not stayed longer but will be booking again for later in the year.
A beautiful place to stay. You can park the car safely and walk to all of the local amenities. Easy access though to Ross, Monmouth, Hereford and Forest of Dean in car if required (..and there 's loads to see and do for all ages). Accommodation is spacious, clean , well equipped, ( fabulously huge fluffy towels !). Dog friendly .Well maintained garden. An abundance of wildlife on the doorstep (birds ,badgers, deer, rabbits) .Proprietors were unobtrusive, helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. This was our fourth stay and will definitely return at these prices.
We enjoyed our week in this dog friendly property, great walking into the forest from the doorstep. There are two pubs within walking distance and another one just across the river easily accessed via the hand pulled ferry, although there is a bridge further down stream if you prefer to walk. We were lucky enough to see the peregrines at Yat rock, and a couple of evenings we watched a badger tucking into a feast left out by a neighbour. Although a little tired in places this bungalow was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Just a small concern is that these properties are located within the grounds of a hotel, and accessed via a short drive along which they are currently building a number of new properties, although this caused minimal disruption it did slightly spoil the ambience.
