We like to stay in places a little different and The Stables is one. It is owned by the Postmasters and within the private gardens of the post office in Ticknall. Secure off road parking with closed gate at night. It was lovely having our own space and the best bit about it was being able to eat our breakfast in our pyjamas the next morning as the cooked breakfast is delivered to you. The entrance door leads right into the bedroom and then there is a small hallway/kitchen and off that a shower room and a small bedroom. If you don't intend to spend much time in there it is great and the only reason I say that is not because it is awful in anyway but because there is not much room to move. There is a small round table with four chairs in the corner, but only really can you fit two adults and a child around it, as not the space to pull it out and because it is right on top of the television you have to lie on the bed to watch it. Overall the owners are friendly and helpful without being intrusive and we would stay again. I would love to give the inside a make-over though - it is somewhat dated in decor.

My Husband and I stayed at the stables for six days while we watched the moto gp at donnington. Brilliant location, only fifteen minutes from Donninton. It has secure off road parking, important to bikers. The room was seperate from the main building. Very clean comfortable double bed, second single room, en suite shower and wc. Compact kitchen well equiped ideal for a family. The breakfast was delivered at a time requested, plenty of it and piping hot. Debby and Martin are wonderful hosts, friendly and helpful. They gave us lots of advise on where to go and the best routes to use. They also own and run the village shop, which is next door. The stables is within a short walking distance of two very good pubs that serve excellent meals. We hope to stay there again sometime next year.
