Staying at nearby Playa Paraiso. Went to caravan site for evening meal on saturday night. Very busy. First waiter unhelpful saying that tables booked. Waitress put tables together and brought table cloths. Menu of the day did not appeal. Ordered off standard menu - food OK. View ovwr the Mar Menor fantastic. Good singer providing the entertainment

Although we don't stay on the campsite we often visit the excellent restaurant which is situated by the beach of the Mar Menor. During the day the views from the dining tables are spectacular. i never tire of watching people doing a variety of water sports such as sailing or windsurfing and there is a great view across to La Manga strip. The tapas are delicious, but our favourite is to have the menu del dia. A three course meal with wine and coffee included is excellent value for money. The food is great and the whole atmosphere is very relaxed. Well worth a visit if in the area. We love it!

We stayed on the La Manga site for 2 months to obtain the cheapest rate.
This is a site you will either love or hate !
The shower blocks are in desperate need of improvement and the hot water system needs replacing. The toilets are clean, but very, very old and dated.
The major asset of this site is the people who are staying here long term or permanently.
They are a very friendly bunch and are always ready for a chat.
The entertainment bar is very good but I understand this is only a winter activity.
The outdoor swimming ppol is not open during the winter months but there is a very small indoor pool that can be used for 4 Euros a visit. There are some good sport/excercise facilties such as, Keep Fit, Boules, Tennis, Squash etc. and all at good value.
The food in the bar is good and the staff are very friendly.
The bus stop outside the camp is not good. There is a bus once an hour that goes, via the villages, to Cartagena. On the return journey, the bus does not stop at the camp site but stops in the miidle of a busy road in Playa Honda. You have to walk along the busy road to get back to the camp. There is no Bus to Murcia from the campsite. At Present (Feb 2014) there is only 1 bus a day to Murcia leaving La Manag at 8.25 am and returning at 5pm.
Many people return to this camp year after year. One minute I wonder why ! and the next minute I think I will be back next year. To obatin full benifit from this campsite and the surrounding area you do need the use of a car.

Arrived for 1 night on route to Granada in our motorhome , after allocation of a pitch we noticed a big pool of water under our van , we managed to get on our pitch to find out our radiator was leaking badly . Reception gave us a number of a local motorhome dealer and on them seeing it , they advised we would need a new radiator and it may take up toy 4 days . We did not fancy staying in the van for this length of time while it was getting repaired and rang reception to see if they could help , they put us in one of their cabins which was a great relief . In the end we only stayed 1 night in it as our van was ready the next day , and after collection we went back on a pitch . The staff in reception were great and made a stressful event much easier to deal with, nothing was a issue for them . Thank you again .

On arrival, whilst queueing for check-in, a very angry man entered reception complaining that his bikes had been stolen off of his motorhome. Not the fault of the camp site, but their response was along the lines of "yeh whatever, not our problem". They couldn't be less interested or helpful.

Stupidly, I continued with check-in, when I should have just left there and then. Things went downhill from there on in.

After informing reception that our van was nearly 8m, we were assigned a pitch in the middle of Section N. After driving around the large campsite and seeing the entrance road to our pitch we became a little concerned. The road looked very narrow. Oh well, since we had explained the van was large we thought it might widen or get better. It did not. We navigated our van down the road, navigating a parked car along the way, only to find a 90 degree turn with trees and no additional turning room. Clearly we wouldn't make it around the corner, so were forced to reverse all the way back down and onto the main road. After getting back onto the main road we were told by another camper that there were lots of places off of the main road. We relocated to one of the *many* available pitches off of the main road and setup the van.

I walked to reception to explain that whilst the allocated pitch might be a decent size, we were unable to reach it. I expressed by disappointment that given the size of the camp site that the roads were so narrow. There was little interest in my feedback. I told them that we had chosen a different pitch, but was then told that I couldn't have that one as it had been booked. In fact, all of the pitches on that block had been booked. I would have to move. This didn't seem to make much sense, but apparently a rally had booked the entire section and we couldn't use it. Now, given it was early evening, I figured they might let it slide. I wasn't alone in this thinking, two receptionists then began to argue between themselves if it was OK or not. I was left standing there like an idiot. In the end I was allocated another pitch 20 metres along from where we were parked and off of the main road.

We packed up the motorhome and drove the additional 20 metres to settle in our new pitch. Why we hadn't been given this pitch in the first place I do not know. It would have saved a lot of aggravation and time.

So, settled in we get contemplate dinner then sleep.

The trouble is, the site is so packed full of people it never really gets quiet. Dogs barking, people shouting whilst walking past, cars and motorhomes driving around. Not very good for getting rest.

The shower blocks were a short hike away and didn't provide toilet paper - come on, with prices like this? The shower cubicles were packed tight and had no room for changing.

The surroundings were ugly and old. In the camp site was a shanty town that wouldn't look out of place in Mumbai or South Africa.

It is plain to see that this campsite doesn't actually care about your experience. It has crammed in as many pitches as it possibly can and is orientated around extracting as much money as it can from the people staying there.

Drive towards the end of the La Manga strip and wild camp instead.

We decided upon this campsite as we had been free camping the previous few nights and wanted the comfort of a campsite for a change. However, even on first impressions it wasn't great. The campsite is huge. When we went to reception there was someone complaining that his bikes had been stolen from the back of his motorhome with a bolt cutter!

We were allocated a pitch from reception, but told we could pick an alternative if we wanted. As we drove through the campsite we were not impressed with all the static caravans and huts - it looked more like a shanty town than a holiday camp. Some looked really shabby and untidy. As we made our way to the little road leading to our pitch, we were again unimpressed that this was a very narrow road and did not feel comfortable driving our 7.6m motorhome down it. When we reached the turn to our pitch we realised we were not going to make it. Not only would we have to turn from a narrow road into an even more narrow road, but there was also a tree overhanging the corner, which meant this route was impassable for us. A few fellow campers tried to help and suggested trying another route, but this was ridiculous. We opted to find another pitch on the main access road of the site (having to reverse back down the same awful road to do so.) There were loads of pitches free along here, do we couldn't understand why they had given us a pitch so difficult to get to, and with no proper instructions on the route to take (which every other campsite seems to do as a matter of course!) While I set things up on the pitch -electric hook up, stabilisers etc. - my partner took the 500m walk back to reception to advise them of the change. When he returned 10 minutes later, it emerged that we couldn't stay on this pitch as they had all been booked by a caravan club. It might have been nice if they had a sign saying this, so nobody takes the pitch! So, we undo everything, move 100m or so up the road to another pitch. Finally settled! However, the remaining stay was not a quiet one. It seems trucks and bikes were continually going along the road in front of us on the site. Another slight disappointment was the small shower cubicles with no place to get dressed - a bit poor for somewhere that is so big and supposed to be a proper campsite. Unfortunately, while on a bike ride up the spit the next day, we saw some great wild camping spots. We wished we had seen then earlier. Would not stay here again and would not recommend stay at a lovely, quiet free stop nearby instead.

Huge area, many permanent-looking shacks and campervans. 'Beach' was very unattractive: grey sand and dead jellyfish in the water. Wifi - paid $6 for two days. Connection very bad. Don't bother. Would not recommend or stay here again. Reception staff very friendly and helpful by the way!
