“What a great time we had returned on the 28th september”
Reviewed September 29, 2011

Booked this after reading review we had mixed idea's of what to expect. We were pleasantly suprised. The Hotel is lovely very clean room was basic but that is what we had booked so no suprise there. The food was good not for the lovers of english food but you certainly would not have starved. The staff where very nice too very helpful and i was shocked when we went to the reception to ask a question and the lady behind the desk spoke in a northern accent didn't see that one coming.lol. Malgrat is a lovely place we had a fantastic time. Would definately be going again and i can see why so many people especially those that find hills a problem because there is no hills all flat, i also found it to be very wheelchair friendly. Local bars. Legends for your English cup of tea The robin hood for your breakfasts although legends has i very nice breakfast. For a cheap drink the champions bar Mark the landlord is a great guy. And a must is to go to The Swan near the train station Chugga the lardlord is the most welcoming person i have ever met. What a top guy. The Beach is lovely a bit hard on the feet would recommed you get the swim shoes. Train service is good paid e7.70 return to barcelona. in all we had i great holiday. met some lovely people Sheila and malcolm from Co Durham away sheila. and Karen and Dave Widnes. Also met others from cambridge, sheffield, mansfield lovely people unfortunately didn't get there names or was it that a little too many drinks at Champions.

I stayed at reymar with my husband from 14 th to 20 th of september. being informed from here i insisted to pay upgrade 30 euros without even seeing the room. the receptionist was very helpful, explained me that we are lucky and that we were taking the last available room with sea view.5th floor we wanted higher , cause we thought we will be protected from mosquitos).the hotel is big , well maintained , clean , nearby gym center , big pool , but still not big enough for everybody who wants to stay there.the beach is 5 min walk , this time of the year is amazing , not a lot of people , you can take bed and umbrella each 5 euros.the food is good , especially dinners and lunches, dont believe those who say whats gone is gone, they top up with fresh meals constantly.the breakfast is not that great , but hey this is a 3 star hotel. i have no complaints at all , because that was a package hotel +flight £300 for both of us(not each). therefore we could hire a car and travel , took few excursions and visited figueres and barcelona.the ticket to barcelona return is 7.20 euros.bring towels with you or you can buy there, u cant expect from the hotel. the rtemote control is at the reception, you pay 10 euros and collect , dont forget to leave it and to take your money when you are leaving.if you can chose make sure that it will be sea view , and not very frontal , there s every night live music. the staff is helpful and polite, rooms are well cleaned , and nothing desappeared.the tv is a real desapointment, but you are going on a holiday , not watching telly)

We stayed here mid-late Sept for a week, having got a cheap 'n' cheerful package deal. From the mixed reviews we weren't expecting much but for what we'd paid weren't too worried.

What a pleasant surprise this place was! The reception and bar area are lovely, with the bar continuing outside and down to the pool, which has a decent length lane marked up the middle of its shape if you're a swimmer rather than a splasher. Pool very clean and never a problem getting a lounger before 12 noon, can get a bit busier in the afternoon.

Absolute best thing about this hotel was the food. The breakfasts were a little early for us (8-9.30am) but on the couple of times we made it down there were a range of cereals and breads, plus cooked breakfast and fruit, yoghurt, etc. We had paid £30 extra when booking for both of us to upgrade to half board and it was the best decision. The food was available from 1pm-9pm so you can choose lunch or dinner. As we regularly missed breakfast we took lunch and went at opening time so everything was really fresh although it's all replaced regularly anyway, they're always changing trays. THIS IS NOT FOR THE PIE AND MASH BRIGADE THOUGH! the first half of the dishes were mainly salad variants, total heaven - pasta dishes and wonderful peppers, tomato, olives, cucumber, beetroot, carrot, dressings, fish... all top quality.
The second half was hardly ever the same twice but gorgeous locally flavoured casseroles, cooked meats, stuffed ham, paella... I could go on for ages about it all. THE FOOD IS GREAT! If you don't think you'll like spanish stuff then keep your money and go to the swarm of brit pubs for your fill of home cooking. Robin Hood Bar is the best of the bunch in our experience.

We weren't offered the upgrade that people have mentioned in other reviews, but our room was a decent size and think it may have been the bigger room anyway from others' photos. It wasn't a double but 2 twins pushed together, as is often the case in these types of package. The rooms are very dated but again this seems to be normal in my experience of cheap packages. Comfortable enough, decent bathroom, always hot water any time of day however be warned the walls are paper thin. You can hear your neighbours' voices and, er, other goings on! There was a good size balcony and 2 outside chairs - could have done with a table for the finishing touch though.

Cleaned every day to a good standard.

The hotel's location is good, right on the corner with the main street and just a stroll through the underpass to the beach. It was €15 for the day for 2 loungers and a parasol. We just went as a couple but reckon the beach might be a bit iffy for kids, not the beach itself but the access to the sea. As it's man-made it's a pretty steep walk down the wet moving sand in to the sea, which gets deep very quickly and therefore the waves are quite big. Great fun for us though! Also 5-10 mins wallk to the train station for direct access to Barcelona - just over an hour and €7 for a return.

Overall I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, the only reason it gets 4 instead of 5 is for the dated appearance of rooms and thin walls. Can't fault anything else and for the money it's a steal.

We paid £249 for the week for this hotel, when we arrived we were given a very small box room but we asked if we could upgrade and for an extra £30 we were given a really nice room on the side of the hotel, this had a very large balcony. Room was basic but clean - cleaners came in everyday. Very nice helpful English lady on reception.
Restaurant was good - lots of selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Entertainment was fine - not brilliant but if you wanted to stay by the pool in the evening there was usually something going on from a singer to a dance act. Mini club for the kids everynight which they seemed to enjoy
Just accross the road from the beach.
All in all a pleasant trip

Room Tip: pay the extra £30 to upgrade

My friend and I stayed here for a week 7-14th September, we had a really nice time.

As it was outside of the typical holiday season the hotel was probably quieter than usual, I enjoyed the food, obviously there were a few things I wasn't too sure about but apart from one thing I liked everything I tried and it was cooked well, for those who like their food boiling hot there was a microwave you could use. Breakfast always had plenty on offer, even things such as beans and cereal for fussy eaters, especially children.

Dinner was different everyday (1-4:30 is lunch 5-9 is dinner) the salad bar was the same everyday and there were always chips available. There were normally four meats and one fish dish, a pasta dish and some accompaniment dishes, such as vegetables. There was also a daily soup and desserts, the desserts didn't vary as much, there would always be ice cream, yogurts, fruit and then two or three choices in the dessert fridge. At lunch/dinner you do have to buy your own drinks, but if you buy a bottle of wine you can place a tag on it so you can finish the bottle the next day.

Our room was very good, we were on the side of the hotel but we still had a sea view one way, and a view of the hills another. We booked a double room but when we arrived we had three single beds in the room, they were fairly firm but I found them comfy. The bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean, I was one ant the whole time I was there. The air conditioning was good as well, it would have been far too hot without it. Our towels were changed everyday, the sheets weren't though, normally the bed was just re-made so I'm not sure how often the sheets were changed.

The pool was lovely, but cold, the pool was never to busy so sun beds and tables were always available, the pool was fairly shallow (120cm) at the deepest point so it is deep enough to swim but also shallow enough for children to play, there was also a pool of 40 cm deep for very small children. The bar staff were great and when you order anything from the bar you can ask for that days password for the Wifi.

At night the hotel was very quiet, we were never disturbed, even though the train line runs fairly close to the front of the hotel it never woke us up even though the first train was at around 6 am.

The area was nice as well, the part of the beach opposite the hotel was very quiet, you could either lay on your towel or rent a sun bed for €5, the sea was a nice temperature, the sand is fairly coarse though so it isn't ideal for making sand castles, there are two other beaches though. You go under a subway to access a beach, but this is lit so you can use it with confidence in the evening.

The town itself is nice, one day we walked to a park thinking it would be full of grass etc but it turned out to be the ultimate in children's adventure park with things for older children and younger children, so I really would suggest going there if you holiday with children, it was open quite late as well.

On Tuesdays there is a market on tourist avenue but we missed this, you can catch a RENFE train from Malgrat train station to Barcelona for €7.70 (catalunya de placa is the central station), the trains were very clean, nice and cool and you could get a seat, the ticket machine has an English option as well and you can get a timetable from the counter. We made the stupid decision to walk to Gaudi's cathedral, don't do it, get the metro!

One day we also went to Marineland €25 where there is a free bus in various areas of Malgrat de mar, it was a fairly small water park but it was really good and really clean, they have a little marine zoo as well so you can see a seal lion, dolphin and bird show. You can have your photo taken with a dolphin and touch one for € as well. We arrived at around 11 am and we caught the first bus home at 5 pm and I must admit we were nowhere near bored or ready to go home, we could have stayed quite a bit longer. The animal shows were good as they were also educational, they were showing you all the different fins for the Dolphin, what they are for etc and the commentary was in most languages including English.

When we left we left before breakfast so the day before we ordered a pack up which was free, we had two bread rolls, ham, cheese, butter, jam and a hard boiled egg. I must admit like most hotels the entertainment was fairly cheesy, it stopped at 11 though so that was pretty good.

I would stay at this hotel again, but I would probably go out of season again as it is a bit cooler, but still hot enough and also a little quieter. My only complaint is that we arrived at our hotel at around midnight and so we had to have a little wander to buy some food, it would have been nice if they had given us something, even just a pack up.

We found good price for this hotel in period of beginning of October 2010. Looking from that point of view we got what we expected. It was easy to find hotel with the help of GPS. They have free private hotel parking, but you can always find a spot in front of hotel, which is also free. Room was clean, but small. We expected that because we read other reviews. This is not problem at all, you stay in room for minimum time during the day. Various food choice. From good to bad, but you always find something. If you don't have high expectation you'll find this hotel as a good choice.

Not too many tourists in this period, and ok weather.
