We stayed her 14-21st October 2011 and booked through the thomson website which was all quite easy. (2 adults and 6 year old son). The hotel is clean and welcoming with 2 large bars on the groung floor and the resturant on the 1st floor. There are 3 lifts.
The rooms are fairly basic and cosy! but we did not spend much time in there and when we were in there getting changed etc, my son was kept amused by the tv which has bbc1, bbc 2, cbeebies, channel 5 and itv. There were also spanish chanels with english programs with spanish subtitles. We had no trouble with any noise disturbance from the hotel or other rooms - we were in room 436 at the back of the hotel on the 4th floor.
The food was good quite a bit of variaty and a separate kids buffet. I did struggle abit as a vegatarian but that is usual when abroad so did not bother me.
The pool area is good with plenty of beds but i agree with some of the other reviews that in peak season you would be packed in like sardines and it would be un-barable.
The beach infront of the hotel is great, and there is shallow water with no rocks out for quite away, my son loved it. There are life guards dotted across the beach which makes you feel quite safe.
Santo tomas is quite small and quite a few of the hotels had already shut down for the winter including the one next door. There are a few small shops enough to get what you need on all inclusive but its expensive and i would not recommend going self catering there.
My son attended the kids club at the hotel a few times and liked it, the staff are nice and they are well set up signing kids in and out and locking the door after you, they also take your room number and mobile phone number.
We did the walk to son bou across the cliffs one morning when it was cloudy - The first 20 minutes are quite nice walking along the cliff then across some fields along the path, the next 40 minutes are across the sand dunes on a track made of very soft dry sand which seems to go on for ever! and when we got there most of the place was shut.......( If you tink you may get a taxi back apparently its 24 euros). We were glad we went and did walk as we have some lovely photos of the view but would not do it again. Apparently its just under 7 miles there and back.
We went to mahon on the bus from outside the hotel it was 3.05 euro each, each way. Was quite nice we looked around the market, went on the little train and had a look round the shops. If your looking for free wi-fi while your there, buger king is right by the market and they advertise it in the window. The bus was on time each way ........ unlike the day we decided to go to citudella and it never arrived at all!
Anyway we had a lovely time and would definatly go back but NOT in peak season as the out door areas are just to small for a full hotel and the beach is quite narrow.
