The hotel staff were, in the main, very good. There are a couple of older male members who were very stuffy. The location is good with a 15 minute walk into the town and 104 steps to the harbour. You do need to get some transport to the nearest beach. The rooms were very nice but the walls, around room 121, we're paper thin and you can hear everything going on. The pool area was very nice but there were not enough sun beds to go around and if you don't reserve one by early, you simply won't have one. The meals along the harbour vary greatly in amount, quality and price. The menu el dia is usually good value. The food in the hotel was buffet style and only 16€ per person per day.

The Port Mahon Hotel is situated in a fantastic location overlooking the harbour and marina. The terraced area next to the pool affords an unparalleled view. The staff are excellent. The rooms are spotlessly clean and well equipped. Restaurant good with plenty of choice. Many bars and restaurants close at hand. You won't find a better hotel than this in Mahon, or many other places for that matter. Highly recommended.

Just returned from a lovely week at this hotel.Had a room on the top floor with a balcony looking straight out into the harbour. The view was fantastic, a real pleasure to wake up to each day. The air conditioning was effectiveBreakfast very good with a wide choice, as described by previous contributors & you can indulge in a free glass of 'fizz' with it if you wish to! It was rather disappointing not to have tea & coffe making facilities in the room as well.Location was quiet and access to Mahon was easy-either past the old hospital via Place De Miranda and the very interesting indoor market , or down the steps in front of the hotel and along the harbour walkway.104 steps coming back up - Just take them slowly! The restaurants in the harbour area are quite expensive and many lack simple local fare - lots of pizza, pasta, baguette options but if all you wanted was a Spanish omelette and a simple salad that was harder to come by.Explored the island using the local buses which were reasonably priced, punctual and air conditioned.Staff on reception were very helpful with local information & the hotel had a very friendly atmosphere.Would happily return and strongly recommend this hotel to others.

Room Tip: A Top floor room at the front means uninterupted views of the harbour above the trees that line the...

Two excellent features: 1) the staff, 2) the views of the port and harbour. During my stay, one of our party fell ill, and the hotel staff offered me a lot of practical assistance, and checked that we were managing ok: they were extremely kind -hearted, and certainly do their employers credit.Very nice hotel, modernised rooms, clean public spaces, & nice pool in a quiet area (not for young families) above the port road.

The breakfast buffet was very comprehensive: we didn't eat in the evenings here because there appeared to be only a sort of Euro buffet on offer. The local restaurants (on the port road) are pretty patchy, offering mostly tourist fare, or very expensive fish. The hotel is missing a trick by not offering a small menu of simple local dishes, which we would certainly have gone for.

Will definitely recommend, and return, although after a week of Mahon restaurants, self catering seems like the best option!!

Room Tip: Go for a balcony

Hotel is immaculate throughout. This was our first visit, we would have no hesitation to return or to recommend to others. Initially booked bed and breakfast but ended up eating in the Hotel most evenings. Good food, wide choice, pleasant relaxed atmosphere and excellent value for money compared to local restaurants. Welcoming, friendly, attentive staff made it a really enjoyable stay. Sea view worth the extra cost, truly magnificent.

Room Tip: upgrade to get sea view, we both thought it was worth the extra.

This was our first visit to the Port Mahon Hotel, although we are frequent visitors of Menorca. We were very pleasantly surprised. We took the option of upgrading our room to a Sea View and although this cost 30 Euros/night - it was definitely worth it, with unspoilt views over the harbour and a lovely little balcony which overlooked the hotel patio with views to the pool.

The food was AMAZING value considering the price, we had opted for half-board and there is an option when you arrive to purchase a voucher. Breakfast was simply divine, with such a great choice of hot, cold, pastries, breads, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal - everything you ever wanted and more and the evening meals were just as delicious and again a wide choice of meals to suit every palette!

The staff were freindly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble - I particularly want to mention by name Richard on Reception and Martin in the Bar/Restaurant who really made our stay an enjoyable one!

It was our anniversary while we were away and the hotel caught wind of it and left a lovely chilled bottle of bubbly in our room.....

We will definitely be booking again!

Room Tip: Pay for the upgrade and get a Sea View and Balcony - you wont regret it!
