We were determined to visit Sa Taverna d'es Port having seen the range of tapas available as we strolled by from our hotel to Mahon several times during the week. We eventually made it in the middle of our holiday and how glad we were. There was a friendly welcome from the owner who was very helpful on our choice of tapas and what tasty food! Every dish was a delight and we loved the relaxed way of serving as soon as the dish is ready. Location is great - with a perfect view of a glorious sunset over the harbour. If you want a relaxed evening with traditional surroundings and fresh ingredients cooked with care and expertise then this is the place for you.

We love this little restaurant, it is nearly always full in season - so make sure you get your name down - then go for a walk along the marina. It is well worth a wait. Great selection of all the traditional spanish tapas dishes, cooked to perfection!

We absolutely love this Tapas restaurant (near the floating restaurant in Mahon), and so does everyone we take there. It's also extremely popular with locals, which is always a good sign, and they open all year round. The restaurant opens on an afternoon for lunches from 1 I think and on an evening from 8. It's not huge so booking is advisable in summer months, although the owner Xavi is extremely accommodating and always seems to squeeze us in some where. They have increased the size of their outdoor eating area but would easily fill an area 3 or 4 times this size. Sa Taverna is a family business with Xavi front of house and his lovely wife cooking in the kitchen. All of the tapas are homemade and delicious, and the menu is extensive. It's worth remembering that the tapas are served in the traditional Spanish way i.e. once one dish is ready its brought to the table and not in the English way where all dishes are served at once - this makes for an enjoyable, laid back at leisurely way to eat. We normally order a few tapas to start with and then order more as required. I've known Xavi my whole life, from when he first worked in the Pizzeria in Cala Fonts to the many years he worked in Roma Italian restaurant and we are so pleased for him and his success in Sa Taverna d'es port. He is a lovely guy who will make you very welcome and his wife's food is delicious. He also speaks excellent English. We can't wait for our visit next year

We've had a few lovely lunches sitting outside Sa Taverna d'es Port.

They have an excellent range of mainly tapas, and their chicken wings are outstanding. Their escalibada with anchovies is also really, really good. We generally start with a couple of beers and then move on to wine - the wine list is good, and they do half bottles if one bottle isn't quite enough!

The patatas bravas are also good, and interestingly different from many of other other versions of this dish that always appears on tapas lists. Theirs come with a really spicy chilli oil, and it really works. We've had most of the tapas at one time or another, and we have NEVER been disappointed. Sa Taverna also has regular specials - their Chipirones (fried baby squid) are excellent.

The owner/manager is very friendly, very helpful and so is the waiter - the waitress he replaced a while ago was also very good. Good, solid, efficient and professional service, and very good value. Located on the harbour, you get an excellent view of the passing maritime traffic.

A very pleasant place to spend a nice leisurely lunch.

Went there last night......arrived at 1940 to find it closed and that it doesn't open until 2000hrs. We waited until then as it does look very nice only to learn that they were completely full and that you must book in advance. Anyway, we did, but the earliest we could get in was 5 days in advance! It must say a lot about the place and we're looking forward to dining there. I gave the place a 5 as to to eat there and give anything else would be unfair. Will write another review after Sumday.
