We were visiting from Ciutadella for the day and had just had a miserable and overpriced sandwich from a promising looking cafe. To mollify ourselves we stopped into a sophisticated little cake shop and, after buying far too many treats, asked the woman working if she could recommend a nice restaurant. My Spanish is not great, so after staggering along up hill at siesta time, we were delighted to actually find it: Ses Forquilles! A little oasis in the heat of the day. We were the only ones in but it quickly became full - even though the atmosphere, the combination of upstairs/downstairs and the service left us feeling individually pampered.
The food was incredible - truly a visual and gastronomic experience. The only thing I felt was missing was a sort of palate cleanser - a non-dressed salad or green to rest the senses and prepare for the next treat. This is my own opinion, as I don't usually eat rich food. Still, that said, I did manage to finish off the meal with lovely dark chocolate and 'toast' and coffee...really, there was absolutely no better meal in Minorca than this for us.
