Agroturismo Can Domo
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed August 5, 2007

Just spent a week at Can Domo - this was my second year staying there and I'm afraid the last. It is truly beautiful, stayed in the Domo room this year which was unique and brilliant - the location is also great - its close to Ibiza town but peaceful and it really does feel like a retreat - however it is massively let down by the now onsite management - rather than enhance the experience this year they moaned about workload, were obstructive and plain rude on several occasions - which really detracts from the 'retreat and chilled atmosphere'I enjoyed so much the first time. It's a real shame. Another downside for me personally was the number of families staying and dominating the pool.

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a week's holiday staying at Can Domo. We telephoned to book at the last minute and the only room available for the timeframe we needed was the Domo room itself, a large old stone barn that had been converted to a bedroom set high up on the hill that the hotel sits on. I must admit we were sceptical about the fact that it had an outside bathroom, but as we were booking so late and were desperate to get away to Ibiza we decided to go with the flow!

The hotel is in a rural location in the hills between Jesus and Santa Eulalia and has only 9 rooms. Our flight was due to land at 11pm but was delayed so it was more like 1am by the time we arrived at the property. Laurence who runs the hotel with her husband had waited up for us to arrive so that she could show us to our room (as it is seperate from the main buildings and she was concerned about us finding it in the dark) and made sure we were OK for refreshments before leaving us to sleep. In the morning when we went outside to our bathroom we saw how beautiful the place was. The whole place has been decorated in a shabby chic fashion, whitewashed walls and beautiful vintage/antique furniture. Next to our outside bathroom was our own canopied cabana with comfy cushions and views out over the mountains - the perfect place to watch sunset with a bottle of vino!

The pool is quite small and suitable for a quick dip to cool off rather than a full blown swim, but there are daybeds and sunlongers for you to laze on and you can help yourself to refreshments from the honesty bar.

Due to the rural location, you definitely need a car to be able to explore the island. And we were worried that as were off the beaten track, taxis would have difficulty finding us - but this was not a problem.

Breakfast is served by the pool and included in the price of the room is a basket of breads/croissants, jams, tea/coffe and juice and yoghurt. Fruit, cheese, meats and cooked food is available at an extra charge.

All in all this is a great place to stay. If you are looking for a relaxing retreat with gorgeous views, a real laid back feel and excellent service then this is the place for you. We stayed on an extra 2 days as we were having such a great time, and moved into one of the smaller rooms in the main house. Although different, this was still just as lovely.

Laurence and her husband are great hosts - helping us with car hire and suggesting local places to eat. In fact, we left some of our belongings behind and they are posting them back to us for no charge which is great!

We loved it here and we will definitely be back!
