“Elegant, chic and relaxed”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

This is a classic seventeenth century farmhouse with one of the island's oldest granary stores, known as a Domo.
The rooms are individual and well appointed, yet offer an elegant and rustic charm that is the perfect complement to Ibiza. The owner, Alexandra hails from Belgium and has brought over a wonderful homely selection of vintage cabinets, wardrobes and chairs that add immense personality and style to each space.

Breakfast is served on the terrace from an open air kitchen - very tasty!

A prolific rose garden runs to a peaceful courtyard, shaded by an aged palm: whilst the pool looks out over rolling countryside towards the hills and the sea beyond

Magical!

People were not very friendly neather helpful. They overcharged us for everything and the rooms where uncomfortable. Food was poor (except for the salad at lunch time) , swimming pool and outside space was small and with not nice views. You basically sleep in and old pigsty but pay as if you were in a mansion. And the worst thing was that people make you feel unwelcome. Can Pere is more confortable and welcoming.

Decoration was very good but I do not think that it compensate for the bad service and the uncomfort.

We spent a full week at Can Domo and we loved it. We used it as a base to explore the island.

What did we like? A 5 star breakfast (we are very demanding with breakfast) from 9 AM to noon, Alexandra loves the island and comes up with great ideas as to which beaches or villages to go to (with regards to beaches, we loved – we are more authentic than beach clubs - cala salada, agua blanca – go to the Argentinian counter, delicious food, not the other one - cala conta to take pictures, cala bassa – go in the morning...), Alexandra loves to take care of her guests and for example will make reservations for you in restaurants that will best suit your taste, the place is beautiful and still looks local, the atmosphere is very relax.

Even though it is quite a pricey trip, going to Formentera is really worth every penny.

Ignore previous comments about awful management. To the contrary, the management has become one of the best assets of the place.

Room Tip: if you do not like the room, Alexandra will find a room that you like (you won't have to insist)

Can Domo is a lovely old farmhouse that has been converted to an agroturismo by Alexandra and her partner. The setting is beautiful with stunning views across the hills and the atmosphere is very relaxed - we loved the fact that the delicious breakfast (croissants, ham, eggs. museli and cheese) was served from 9am-12pm which is perfect after a late/early morning finish. The decoration is very stylish and the pool area with big umbrellas for shade is charming. We found it very peaceful. However we did feel that the prices were slightly on the exorbitant side. In high season the room price is 250 euros a night (more for a suite), a glass of wine is about 6-9 euros and a very simple lunch of tomatoes, cheese and ham cost 47 euros (perhaps rather foolishly we did not enquire how much it would be beforehand - I just asked for a simple lunch of bread and cheese!). Ibiza is an expensive place to visit, but we felt that this was taking advantage. Our room (an old grain store with outside bathroom and private living area) was fantastic, but if I had been staying in the main house (with no air conditioning) I would not have been so pleased. You do need a car to access the bumpy track up the hill, otherwise a taxi into Ibiza town costs about 20-25 euros. It's also a real shame the pool is so small - in that setting (with seven rooms also) you want a large swimming area - you can only manage about three strokes from end to end.

Good afternoon,

First of all, we want to thank you for all the kind things you said about Can Domo and your stay.

But we have a response to give regarding the rates. A glass of wine is not between 6 to 9 € but is at between 3 and 4 € depending on the wine, as well as a salad the first rate is at 10€ for a simple one and it could be 16€ depending on the products (french cheese, burratina, serrano ham, salmon...). For your information our first room category is at 190€ in high season.

Hoping to welcome you some other times !

Best sunny regards.

Alexandra

We stayed in can domo for a couple of nights last June and we've really enjoyed it!

We've been visiting a lot of agroturismo's and it's pretty sure that Can Domo is one of the most beautiful and pleasant places to stay!

Ignore negative reports about bad, unfriendly management. This girl is not working there anymore and we couldn't think of a more friendly place, the owner Alexandra is now working there herself and she is very much into giving you a great time.

Great place!

We were a little bit afraid by the reviews mentioning problems with the management (Laurence in particular) but yet, we booked 3 nights in Can Domo, and it was simply perfect! An important thing to know is that they changed the management. We didn't know how it was with Laurence, but we have been warmly welcomed by the new hostess (Alexandra).
Another change is the possibility to eat at the hotel (lunch and dinner). We had a few meals there (asparaguses risotto, gambas salad with mango...) and it was delicious, not to mention easy before you go out and so pleasant to chill around the pool all afternoon with a drink after a savoury lunch.
The decoration and the views are amazing. We definitely recommend this place, and we can't wait to be back to Can Domo next Easter!
