“Paradise for hillwalkers”
Reviewed June 30, 2010

Just returned from a week's stay at Club Cala Verde. The location is breathtaking set high on a cliff overlooking a beautiful bay. Watching the bay and all the swimming, snorkellng and pleasure boats skimming past is highly entertaining. Of course the beauty of being high up is also a drawback. There were 90 steps from reception to our room. And reception to the beach was a further 108 steps. So from the beach to our room was.....well I will let you do the maths!
Having said that, the steps were a small price to play to stay in such a lovely hotel. We could have asked to be moved to a lower level room but chose the hike to try to keep fit. But don't let the steps put you off. I am sure that you can ask for a lower level room. Our room was in block 6. We didn't have sea views but instead had verdant hilside views. The sun came on the balcony in the afternoon and at times was too hot for us as there is no shade on the balconies. Some of the rooms do have sea views but these also benefit/suffer from overlooking the pool and entertainment area.
Apart from the steps to the beach there is also a concrete path but this is exceedingly steep. The hotel does operate a buggy service to the beach leaving at 10.30am and returning at 1.30pm. Sunbeds and parasols are available to hire on the beach - approx cost 12 euro's. We brought cheap lilo's with us ( £2 Asda's) and used these instead. A parasol or beach tent would be a good idea to save on costs.
We went all-inclusive - which I thoroughly recommend. Being AI allows you unlimited coffees, 3 types of icrecreams, afternoon croissants and alcholic drinks. Top shelf brands too I might add. These costs would mount up otherwise. And it was great to see that nobody abused the AI facility.
The hotel caters for Italians, Germans, French, Spanish and English with brits being by far the minority. I found the cosmopolitan atmosphere fascinating - great to see different cultures getting along. Partly helped by the energetic entertainment team who try to include everyone in the daily activities such as darts, archery, quizzes. Mini club for the children.
Food was first class. We ate all all meals on the terrace overlooking the bay. The first morning at breakfast we were so fortunate to see dolpins swimming in the bay. Breakfast is at 8.00am, lunch at 1.00pm and dinner starts at 7.30pm. Food constantly refreshed if necessary. Food theme nights such as Oriental, Mexican, Argentina, Cousous, Spanish add to the variety. In addition there is a BBQ section each night as well. Help yourself to whatever you want. also help yourself to drinks, soft, wine or beer.
The hotel is isolated but there is a hotel free courtesy bus to Santa Eularlia leaving 3 times a day. Once at 9.30am then again at 10.15 and once at 4.00pm. This picks you up about 3 hours later which is plenty of time to wander around the town and marina at Santa Eularlia. We also got the bus to SE and then a taxi to Es Canar which made for an interesting exercusion. On Saturday the bus will take you to the hippy market at San Carlos approximately 5 kilometres away. You have 3 hours there which for me was too long so I walked back to the hotel.
You can get a ferry from the beach to Santa Eularlia for 12 euros return , Ibiza Town for 18 euros or Formentera for 32 euros. We had a day trip to Formentera. The ferry leaves from the beach at 9.30am and gets you back to Cala Verde at 7.30pm. You can order a picnic from the hotel to take with you if you order it the day before. The day trip to Formentera is worth it. The ferry is 1 hour to SE and then you change ferries and pick up a fast catamaran to Formentera which is another 1 hour. On the catamaran you will be offered a bus exercusion around the island. Its worth it. For 12 euros they will take you to the beach for 3 hours and then a 90 minute tour of the island. Or for 6 euros they will shuttle you to 2 seperate beaches.
Cala Verde hotel is twinned with Cala Blanca hotel. They are about 500 metres apart but its a climb down to the beach and then a walk along the beach and up steps to move between hotels. You can enjoy the facilities at the Cala Blanca but can't eat there. There are 2 small supermarkets near Cala Blanca but the range isn't great.. There are also a couple of independent restaurants near Cala Blanca which appeared to specialise in pizza. If you need provisions best to catch hotel bus to SE to stock up. Try to find the supermarkets in the centre of SE as they are cheaper than the one on the marina.
The hotel has a great entertainment team who put on a show most nights. The show starts at 10.00pm. You will get to love their "freedom " song.
Finally the rooms are very pleasant, clean with plenty of hot water and a powerful shower over the bath. Its easy to see why this hotel is number 1 on Tripadviser.

Just returned from a wonerful holiday at the Cala Verde. We requested a sea view and that is exactly what we got and wow what a fantastic view it was! Everywhere was spotless, the food plentiful and of very good quality, animation team and overall entertainment excellent and the reception staff were wonerful, we don't usually return to the same Hotel as we like to try different places but we will certainly return to this Hotel again.

Just got back from our second trip to this hotel, stayed from 18-28th June. Great as ever, animation team were brilliant, never stop working. This year Dani, Marina, Christine, Gianluca, Jaoa, Lynn and all the gang were great. I give this hotel 5 stars based on the price because you cannot beat this for value and location if you want a beach and pool holiday. Staff always friendly and polite. Food very good although you may have an odd day when its average but salad bar etc superb. If you have kids go all inclusive as it will cost you a fortune otherwise in snacks and drinks round the pool. Steep walk to beach and there was the odd jellyfish this year which stung my kids so be careful. We've got them here in UK too at mo so must just be an abundance in the hot weather, I only saw two in the 10 days we were there. Place is remote which I love. TV in room only had CNN in English and Sky news without sound so that could be improved. Weekends get busy with Spanish coming for the weekend but not silly busy when we were there, what its like in July and August I don't know. Entertainment generally good with 3 evening shows a week from outside and the rest by the animation team, funny sketches etc. The shows like Grease and Abba are mainly dancing where the staff mime to the song backing tracks.I would personally like to see more live singers, maybe a tribute act or two but thats just me. Met some people who were there with us last year so getting very familiar with the place now. Would not hesitate to go again, as its a very family atmosphere. Night entertainment finishes at around 11pm then its bedtime for us with the kids. There is a disco apparently that goes on till 1am at the sister hotel a 10 minute walk away but can't comment on what its like as didn't go. Overall, for the price etc, 5 stars!

We stayed for a week in early June 2010 in a Junior suite on the top floor of one of the accomodation blocks. Complete privavcy and stunning views of the countryside covered in pines and a huge bay with the beaches below.
A club atmosphere which was never intrusive, but meant that many sports facilities were available: a group of tennis players would love the courts. The professional entertainment on three nights was very good: flamenco, acrobats and dancing.
The pool was good but busy. The main beach good, but a steep walk down. The next beach, the Aigues Blancas, can be reached in 15 minutes of hard steep walking by rough tracks: the most relaxed beach ever (read the reviews!).
The food was excellent, but informal. The guests from all over Europe and of all ages. At the weekend many Spanish guests. Not for young clubbers!
A bit isolated if you only stayed in Figueral, but brilliant place to tour the island if you hire a car. My top tips would be 1. Go to the promenade of Santa Eularia for lunch and a stroll. 2. Take a bus or a boat from Santa Eularia if you want to visit Ibiza town: it is impossible to park.
I would definitely return and June was the perfect month, with wild flowers in abundance.

If your into nightclub holidays, pub crawls & motorised watersport this isn't the holiday for you.. If your a couple or small family alike, looking for a nicely laid out, clean hotel with a safe & friendly environment..look no further.. with wooded walkways for surroundings, lovely little beachside coves to walk along and small local restaurants the invisa cala verde is a great stay.. Quiet & highly relaxing would be the best description of this area of Ibiza with bus trips to es Cana easily available if u want to see more. Rooms a good size, bright and clean with some fantastic sea views. Pool area always has plenty of loungers and tennis, archery & football facilities very well kept.although we don't have children ourselves.. Kids club seemed to do a great job with children present and play area nearby looked ideal for little ones.. Enjoy your stay here

Just spent a week at the Cala Verde and this hotel really deserves its rating on Trip Advisor. The hotel may only be classed as 3 star establishment both by First Choice and the local Spanish rating system but the location, staff service, cleanliness and whole environment deserve top marks.

The location is stunning with tree clad hills to one side of the bay and the sea opening out in front of the facility is worthy of a 5 star establishment.

The public areas, rooms and bathrooms are basic but very very clean, well maintained and the air conditioning and ceiling fans very welcome even in late May. The staff are very friendly, most welcoming and work very hard, especially the on site entertainments team who never stop all day from 10am to 11pm with games, activities, mini-club and mini-disco. Evening entertainment was either a professional show brought in for the purpose or the entertainments team's take on Grease, Dancing Queen etc and therefore standards of entertainment varied from 'oh dear' to very good.

Breakfasts and evening meals were very good with plenty of choice on a buffet basis; in addition there is an additional outdoor bar-b-q every evening with fresh grilled meats, peppers and pizza. Drinks with evening meals are on a help yourself basis (beer \ wine \ soft drinks) which was a clever and novel approach.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable week here for excellent value for money and would not hesitate to return.

Important to note that there is a steep path down to the beach but the hotel offered free return transport twice a day down to the beach and back. Additionally they also offer courtesy coach travel to nearby Santa Eulalia (15 minutes away) up to 3 times a day which must be booked the day before.
