All the good things that have been said about this hotel are true but the moans and groans about sunbeds are not. We have just spent a week there and for 7 days we easily got a sunbed and what's more it was in an area of our choice. If you want to sit in close order rows around the swimming pool with your feet in the water, yes, that can be difficult but everywhere else, and that is a very large area, there is not a problem.

Not much has been said about the staff and they are the most hard-working, cheerful and efficient people we have ever encountered in Spain, nothing was ever too much trouble. One person in particular was really exceptional and she runs the pool bar. She can serve 3 drinks at once, can remember your tipple and is ever cheerful and smiling. Her name is Eva Toral and management - if you are listening - don't let her go because she is an absolute gem - whatever you are paying her, it isn't enough.

Go to this hotel, you will love it. A lot of people there are repeat guests, it was our first visit but it certainly won't be the last.

Room Tip: overlooking the pool

Myself and Husband have just returned from yet another fabulous holiday at the Panorama. I had read reviews earlier in the year that the food selection was not as good as previously but we actually thought it was better than ever. There were so many lovely meals to choose from that I just cannot believe anyone could complain about the quality or choice and the food at the Oriental night and Gala night was absolutely amazing.

We thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment, the Thomson Production Team were as good as any I’ve seen in major theatre productions and the comedian we saw on our last night was hilarious. Adam from the Entertainment team is amazing; he works very hard to make everyone laugh and is quite happy to be the butt of his own jokes. We absolutely loved him. The Thomson reps were the best we have ever had during our 20 years of using Thomson Holidays. They were extremely helpful and really got involved in the fun especially Laura and Bill. Bill is such a good sport to go in the pool in a blonde wig and false breasts during Aquafit and Laura really should team up with Adam as an Entertainer, they work so well together, she is full of warmth and fun.

It really annoys me when people complain about the hotel being full of old people. It is a Gold Hotel which is for Adults only!! There are no discos or night clubs in the resort so common sense would tell you that there are likely to be mostly older people staying in the only Gold Hotel in Es Cana just as you would expect the hotels in San Antonio to be full of mostly young people. All age groups are entitled to have somewhere suitable to go for their holidays. I am 54 and personally would much rather holiday with people in the 70+ age group than my own age group.

The only thing that spoilt it slightly for us was when an attention seeker arrived during our first week (there is always one). Now I am all for people having a good laugh on holiday but she was such an embarrassment and acted as though she was one of the entertainment team. She irritated many guests by regularly tagging on the end when the bar staff did their very amusing end of night dance to us all. At the morning Aquafit session instead of getting in the pool like everyone else she would stand on the side to dance next to Adam, even on one occasion wearing a ridiculous Spanish dress. If she needed to walk to her seat during the evening entertainment she would do a detour and walk straight across the stage area clearly trying to seek attention from the performers and when a brilliant Soul singer was performing she decided to get up on stage with her friend and dance behind him which spoilt it for those of us who were enjoying watching and listening to him. However, none of this was the fault of the hotel and I believe she goes every year so we will just make sure we don’t go there on those dates in future. I would however suggest the Entertainment team try not to encourage her if at all possible.

Overall we had a fabulous holiday and unless you are one of those people who just like to moan and find fault with the slightest little thing then I would highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is advertised by Thomson as a 4 T, Thomson Gold......it should be advertised as a SAGA/Old peoples Hotel. (average age 75 years old)

I will start with the positives:
The food is excellent and the Italian Restaurant served up the best Italian Food I have ever eaten. The staff are friendly and helpful and the Thomson Reps cannot be faulted.

The Negatives:
Beware of rooms 103. 203, 303 & 403...these are tiny cheese wedge shaped rooms with a bath that you can't get in or out of safely.(we insisted on being moved).
The safe in the room will cost you 3 Euros a day (non returnable) The pool towels (which have seen better days) are 10 Euro deposit and can only be changed between 10am & 12pm and only once a day.
There are no where near enough sun beds or parasols for the amount of rooms and they are around the small pool like sardines in a can. If you want a sunbed (not necessarily an umbrella, then be prepared to join the queue of pensioners at 6am who wait for the doors to the pool area to be opened at 7.30am. If you go down any time after 7.30 then you have no chance of a bed. If that isn't enough...when you do finally get a sunbed they have the 'pool police'...the lifeguard come pool man . If you leave your sunbed unattended for an hour you will return to a red card on the bed..if for some strange reason you may want to get out of the midday heat or go for a stroll after lunch and you are gone more than 2hrs you will return to find all your belongings confiscated and a green card left in their place...oh and someone else on your bed.
If you have any mobility problems you may have issues trying to get on and off the sunbeds as they have fixed arms so you have to be able to twist and stand. (My friend put her back out)

There are two Jacuzzi pools, one has grab handles that are not safely bolted down and pull out of the floor if you aren't careful...the other doesn't have active bubbles but is safe to get in.
The entertainment during the day consists of Aqua Aerobics for pensioners, shuffleboard, bean bag throwing and a quiz. In the evening alternate nights are the hotel entertainers doing a turn with a few quite good acts thrown in. If you have a pool view room you will not get any peace until after midnight.

The Beach:
If you want to spend a day at the beach it will cost you 15 Euros a day for two sunbeds and an umbrella....beach was crowded.

Excursions:
There is a road train that visits three other beaches and costs 15 Euros for 3 hours and is well worth it...it is just down by the beach 2 minute walk.

Night Life:
There are no night clubs or dancing but you can visit any amount of pubs and restaurants that will be playing Bingo and music until their main acts come on after 10pm.

Sorry to sound soooooo negative but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Others may say it is amazing but it depends on your age and ability. For me it comes as a poor 3 star.

I hope that this will at least give you an idea of what to expect...

Room Tip: Avoid the corner rooms in the older part of the hotel. Pool view rooms are noisy. Sea view can be wo...

My husband and I were looking for a relaxing holiday after a particularly hard and difficult two years. This was just what the doctor ordered. The hotel was clean, the staff were all friendly and the entertainment staff were first rate especially Adam who worked tirelessly to ensure everyone had a good time without pressure on those who just wanted to watch and enjoy. Adam made our holiday and backed by Shannon is a definite 'excellent' entertainment duo. The night time entertainment especially the shows by the Thomson entertainment team were first rate and I must comment on the especially beautiful singing voice of Becky. The bar staff worked very hard and even had the energy to entertain us with their 'sexy' routine each evening. The reps and the management staff showed a good presence and the reception, housekeeping, and ground staff worked very hard and were always friendly and courteous. The waiters and waitresses must receive a mention and I would like to highlight 'Fatima' as she is a real hard worker with a lovely smile; the food is good with variety. We have always made it a plan not to return to the same place twice however we may break this and go again in the future as we enjoyed it so much. The location is good for the beach and we enjoyed a pleasant trip on the ferry to Santa Eulalia. It was amusing to us to see people cueing and rushing out to reserve sunbeds we never did and did not have a problem finding sunbeds any time during our stay. I agree with a previous reviewer the 'swap box' is a great idea, I ran out of books and was able to find a Josephine Cox to read and I left lots of shampoo, shower gel, sun creams etc. which otherwise would have been binned.
Thank you all at the Panorama for your great work you are top of the ratings without a doubt.

Room Tip: We asked for a double bed with a pool view and it was a good room, the bed was however a bit hard.

Just returned from the Panorama and once again had a fab time. We travelled as a party of 5 aged between 55 and 65. On arrival we were greeted with a glass of sparkling wine whilst we checked in. This was our 4th visit to the hotel, and I had emailed beforehand to request specific locations for our rooms as we did not want to be overlooking Charlie's bar as this tended to be very noisy. We were very pleased with the rooms allocated, all on the third floor, the twin rooms being next to each other overlooking the pool, and the single room was at the front of the hotel with fantastic views over the bay, my brother was well pleased
We found that since going AI the choice of food, especially the evening meal, was not as good as previous,, although we always managed to find something nice to eat. We also had no trouble finding tables to accommodate 5 people
The evening professional entertainment also didn't seem up to Gold standard, but was better than many hotels we have stayed in. We had one night in Charlie's bar where a Drifters tribute act was performing and they were excellent
There seems to be a bit of an issue with sunbeds where people were queuing from 7.00am ready for the doors to be unlocked at 7.30. They looked like an army of ants rushing to get their chosen spot, it was quite comical to watch. I am ashamed to say that after a couple of days we became one of these people. There are quite a lot of extra sunbeds on 2 higher levels, but as two members of our party had mobility issues, they were not able to climb the steps leading to them
As previously mentioned in other reviews I must say a special thank you to Adam who really helped make our holiday so enjoyable. He is really funny and quick witted, and you never know what he is going to come out with next. He doesn't pressurise anyone to join in the entertainment but always manages to get a large group to join him. He is certainly an asset to the Thomsons team.
The nightly dance performed by the bar staff is still great , although doesn't have the same impact as the first year when they seemed to have a lot more waiters taking part
All in all we had a fab holiday and would return again, even though it was not quite up to the usual gold standard

Room Tip: Pool view rooms are normally a good choice

My husband and I have just returned from a week in Es Cana staying at Hotel Panorama. We were made very welcome in this lovely clean and spacious hotel. From the Reps, entertainment team, management, waiters, bar staff, cleaners, life guard Paco and security man Tony everyone was friendly and could not do enough. The food was varied and delicious and I could not see any problems with the mix of half board and All inclusive. The day time entertainment was just right Adam was ( as you will have gathered by now) very funny and should be ( and am sure one day will be) on TV. Shannon was lovely and they worked as a great team. Loads of people turned to the water for Aquafit each day which was a good laugh. Evening entertainment was the best I have had on a holiday especially the very professional and slick Thomson Gold entertainment team who should be on the West End.A great touch was even having the bar staff come out and do a dance, everyone was included. We had a pool side view and had no problem with noise and slept soundly although beds were a bit hard.
The hotel is right on the beach with lots of shops around and about. While we were there Chicco from Ex Factor was performing just round the corner.
The welcome and departing meetings were very helpful with a glass of bubbly on arrival. The Reps Bill, Laura & Jo were fab. A great little idea they have is a swap box to leave books or suntan creams etc when you leave, this was very popular.
We had several trips out by Taxi which is round the corner by the bus stop, we found a good idea was to share if going to the same price then worked out cheaper than a bus.
The sunbed thing everyone moans about never appeared to be a problem yes people do queue up for them and are allowed to put a towel on from 7.30 but if they remain unoccupied for an hour they got a green card by the life guard then another hour a red card and towels left at reception. We never had any trouble and there are plenty of nice seats if you could not get a sunbed.
Would definately return...lets hope Adam is still there

Just arrived home after a 2 week stay @ Panorama, the sunbed situation is dire and such a let down, it definatley needs addressing by management at the hotel. The all inclusive plus half board doe not work, some bar staff very surly and will tell you straight they dont like it because they get fewer tips??? The bedrooms are small with no drawer space and just 2 plug sockets in bedroom area, we had a sea view which was lovely until bar next door started (Charlies bar) It was 4:30 before the noise died down some nights although the live music finished at 12ish! Now on the plus side the restaurant staff are so lovely & helpful especially Toni, she was so polite and always had a smile, the restaurant manager was also very good. The maid service was very good although they are VERY noisy from 6am onwards I had to ask them to be quiet twice over my stay there after all it was 6am!!! The hotel manager was brilliant on the saxophone with two on guitar really enjoyed their performance, the night time entertainment was dire except for one comedian who was excellent. The reps show is so predictable the day time entertainment is so childish its a sin! I think they think its a nursing home! Adam is good but repetative, and Shannon just didnt want to be there bless her and I agree with her. I would not go back there again.

Room Tip: Sea view is gorgeous but neighbouring bar VERY noisy
