“Very special - we will be back!”
Reviewed November 14, 2011

Wow, spent a very special night here on our honeymoon. Relaxed in the hot tub with views of the mountains, then had a wonderful meal. We are going to return soon to spend more time in the mountains, Tolox is such a lovely place, real Spain!

The location is pretty special - above Tolox with great views and access to walking from the hotel. The rooms and communal areas are all large and spacious but there is a slightly unfinished feel to the decor and furnishings. The rooms are basic and were not brilliantly clean, the suites are just bigger and not better furnished. The staff were fine when you could find one and better attention to the bar would have been appreciated. There are some nice touches and interesting art & furniture but better organisation would really lift this place. We stayed in one of the Junior suits - Number 12. Our bed was really comfortable and large but there was a funny smell in the room. So far an average experience. But then we had dinner in the restaurant which was special. The menu makes the food sound rather basic but when it arrives it is wonderful, complex and well presented. I had the sea bream which was the most perfectly cooked fish I have ever eaten. My husband had the duck which he has everywhere, he got magret and confit on the same plate with a sweet couscous and he thought all three components were fantastic. The wine list was interesting and we had a great Rioja. So overall definitely worth a stay here, but you must eat in the restaurant.

Wrapped in tranquility, perched on top of a hill with unrivaled views of the Andalucian hills with glimpses of the Med on a clear day, rustic charm, outstanding customer service, individuality, incredible food and a relaxed and friendly vibe. What more could you want on your wedding day? Guillermo, Martin, Eugenio (the owners) and the rest of the staff at the hotel delivered an impeccable yet unobtrusive service from start to finish. Dancing the night away watching the sun come up over the mountains on our wedding night was incredible. An amazing memory. Can't recommend this hotel enough - it really is a special place to stay and celebrate a wedding!

On location alone this hotel would be very hard to beat. Factor in good food, pleasant service and characterful decor and you have a real winner. Our only gripe is the lack of air-conditioning in the bedrooms [though portable a/c is available if you want to pay for it]. Even though it was towards the end of September, the hotel was very full, so booking ahead is probably advisable. We turned up without booking and were very lucky to get two nights. We would have happily stayed longer.

A hidden gem, tucked on the top of the mountainside. Do eat in the restaurant which serves amazing food. The hotel rooms are charming - no air conditioning built in, but they have separate units if it is very hot. Great staff, lovely views, a wonderful place to stay. Good pool, with towels provided. They also do cookery courses, and are thinking of returning to do one of these.

This hotel is located far above the village Tolox. So you would need a car to get to the hotel. From the hotel you have a great view over the village and valley. The rooms are very nice. The restaurant serves good food and good snacks at the pool.
Nice place to relax for a few days and also for walking into the Sierra de las Nieves.
