“Heerlijk was het !”

With my husband and two daughters we landed in this paradise in the green hills of Andalucia. We were warmly wellcomed and felt immediatly at home,The place is ideal if you do not like the discosounds of clubs and parties at the cost, but do like the sounds of sparrows and crickets, and like the sweet smell of orangeblossom. At a certain moment of the day you hear the bells of sheep who are being herded on the premises.Even though one of our daughers is 16( and likes clubs and going out..) she loved being here. There is a pool and a large garden, wich surrounds the hotel that is built in the style of a litte village. From the dining room there is a superb view on the valley. The service is personal and very friendly, making you feel comfortable. It takes a few curves on the road and one hour drive to get to Ronda and an hour more to get to Sevilla. We simply loved the place.

We had a wonderful drive into the countryside and was greeted by warm and friendly staff. We had room 3 and was surprised to find a town house style with a lounge, tv area on the ground floor and 2 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. We used the double bedroom and the other room was a single bed. ( they could have squeezed a "French double" in there no problem)
The place was very very clean and I think the beds were pretty new. They were a bit hard for our tastes but having drunk a good amount of local wine we were ready for a deep sleep. The views over the countryside are wonderful and the pool looked inviting but would need to be a few degrees warmer for us wimps to venture in. A few guests that were made of sterner stuff went swimming. This hotel would make a truly wonderful venue for either a wedding or other type of function/ get together. The restaurant menu was a little disappointing for me even thou it covered all bases...... I would have liked to of seen more local produce like roast goat, leg of lamb, oxtail, venison, wild boar etc etc or at least one "special of the day " of a local style dish. The breakfast in the morning was simple and was only let down by the lack of "real coffee" made to order or boiling water ( not hot) to make the tea. When will places learn the simple art of tea making. For the tea in the bag to infuse you need BOILING WATER !!!! Putting tea and coffee making facility's in the rooms would also be an improvement. All the stuff were helpful and seemed happy to be working in such a lovely place.

PS reading the review from Darren B........ shame on you for being so hard on a business which you paid a deposit to.....reserved dates........ and then cancelled. That is what a business takes a deposit for.......... to protect the dates YOU want and to protect them from having the date cancelled when they could have sold it to others.

My wife and I originally booked this hotel for a short break because it included a trip to a local vineyard for a wine tasting afternoon. We found out just before we were supposed to go that there was a problem with the wine tasting, so we could either postpone, or do the trip without the wine tasting.

We decided to go. When we got there we were really impressed with the location of the hotel. Set away from the world in a picturesque mountain range. The hotel was unusual in that there were several parts that made up the complex. The rooms were actually small houses/cottages, giving the place a look and feel that was completely unique.

To add to that we were greeted my a member of staff on arrival to say that he had arranged a private wine tasting in the hotel restaurant. We got to sample wines of Spain along with local wines from the area, which were fantastic. Then to accompany our wine we had a selection of meats and cheeses that were locally produced. Again they were lovely.

If you want something off the beaten track and a little different, this is the place to go.

P.S They invited us back again for the wine tasting at the vineyard. Couldn't ask for more really.

Thank you to David and his staff for the wonderful time we had here for our sons wedding in July 2013. The venue was idyllic. The staff was helpful, courteous and always accommodating.Marco, the head waiter was a big hit with everyone. No request was a problem and his lunchtime paella was amazing. All the staff worked so hard on the wedding day, to turn the outdoor place into a spectacular venue for the wedding ceremony and the wedding meal which was held in the atmospheric courtyard.Accommodation in the individual villas was perfect. Both adults and children had a wonderful time with an excellent babysitting service. Our son Diarmaid and his beautiful wife Noelle had their dream wedding in your hotel La Herriza and I would certainly recommend it.

We appreciate all the comments that our clients leave be they good or bad as they reflect the effort our family run team make to ensure everyone is treated on a very personal level and leave happy or to the contrary help us improve and better our service which is very important to us. We have during the last 10 years hosted over 150 international weddings and have never had any complications even when refunds were made; we invite you to view the comments of our guests that have celebrated their special day with us which speak for themselves.

On this occasion I must intervene to respond to this individual who unfortunately cancelled their reservation with us due to unforeseen family circumstances which is completely understandable. As our terms and conditions reflect we return any initial deposits paid providing a reasonable notice of the cancellation is given which was the case here so we proceeded to refund the money in due course.
We are frankly at a loss to understand why this gentleman has proceeded to leave a slanderous remark after receiving the deposit, one which I do not believe we deserve and as such is at odds with our reputation. We apologise if the refund was not made before Christmas as provisions were already made by our accounts department to process the refund payment on the 1st week of January.

We had our wedding here and I couldn't praise this venue more.
The Hacienda is a beautiful setting with charming villas, a pool, courtyard and a main building with a restaurant, bar and function room. The venue is hidden high in the mountains near Gaucin. The location and view are sublime. The villas are modern but vintage in style and are roomy and comfortable.
We wanted our wedding to be different from most conventional weddings and David and his incredible staff were more than willing to help us make the wedding very much our own. On the 2nd night we decided to turn their beautiful bar into an Irish pub. When I asked about rearranging all the furniture, head-waiter Marco told me, 'this is your home, of course'. We had a big singsong and the staff even joined in, singing and dancing with the guests.
There was no cut-off time, the bar never closed, the staff worked all night and the same room was ready for breakfast every morning.
The food and wine were local, organic & delicious. Traditional tapas and Spanish dishes such as Spitroast hog & paella.
David accommodated bringing in craft beer taps to the bar and just about everything else we wanted.
For a perfect mix of traditional Spanish culture, a spectacular venue, impeccable staff and a venue you really can make your own, Hacienda La Herriza is the ideal place.
