“A quiet hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2013

A bit disconcerting driving down to the hotel from Huelva, I thought we were heading for either a refinery or the port but the road from Huelva goes between them. A car is a necessity unless you like large taxi bills.
A pleasant enough room on the ground floor. Not much of a view, rooms 50-59 looked like the best for a sunset view. Housekeeping was good, reception staff were distant, catering staff did their jobs.
The Spa closed in the afternoon which I found a bit strange, I'm sure more customers would have made use of it had it been open.
The local towns Mazagon and Matalascanas were interesting in an "untouched by European tourist way". We got a different version of Te con Leche in every cafe or restaurant
If you are looking for a very quiet holiday off the beaten track I recommend this Parador.

Room Tip: Rooms 50-59 looked the best for a view.

This is the perfect place to relax if you've been on a long tour of historical sites in Spain. We only spent one night here, but really enjoyed relaxing by the pool and in on the beach. Notably, the service was less than helpful. For example, the morning we arrived it had been drizzling. Later in the day, it was clear and sunny., We took our room towels to the pool, but noticed that others had orange beach towels. At day's end, we stopped by the front desk to inquire about getting fresh towels for our room, and to ask about the beach towels. We really tried our best in Spanish, but were met by a less than helpful front desk employee who basically blankly stared for a while until explaining that they didn't put the towels out because it had been raining in the morning. Again, we asked if we could have some fresh towels for the room. The next day there were no towels to be found by the pool (and it was sunny all day). It seems that the place was understaffed- there was never an employee by the pool. Also, the beach is lovely- but there are no services available. For example, there are chairs for rent, but they were chained up and no one working to rent them. The food was OK, but not remarkable. Again, the service was indifferent. The rooms were comfortable, but a little bit dated, and wifi was not universal. Overall, it was a relaxing time, but since this was our only stay at a Parador, I'm not sure if the service aspects were typical or not.

We read many reviews and did wonder what we would find.
We were welcomed very well and given our keys to our room,we had a wonderful view over the pool and out to sea.
Ok it is a little dated but the rooms were very clean ,spacious and had everything you could need.
We used the indoor pool and whirl pool, again good with a helpful lady to help if needed .
Breakfast had everything you might wish to eat including bacon eggs etc fresh cooked. our only disappointment was the service, not very helpful or efficient .
This is a great place for a restful stay.
We did not visit the national park but did drive through some of it .Wonderful beaches .we did visit Seville but only a short visit this time.
Good restaurants in Mazagon.
We will return.
Possibly difficult for anyone who has problems with stairs.

The hotel is isolated in the forest close to the national park. It is on a cliff overlooking the massive beach. It is stunning. wonderful rooms, huge grounds a swimming pools, indoor spa with swimming pool sauna gym and jacuzzi. The food is excellent. The staff are so helpful. The hotel rents bikes and will organise a trio to the national park. It is totally refreshing.

Come here for calm, beauty and tranquility.

Give mazagon town a miss, not worth the effort.

Beautiful location on top of the cliff, from where you can see great sunsets. Fitness testing stairs down to the beach (I counted over 180 steps), lovely beach goes on for ever to the east, sea was quite swimmable and warm when I was there. Lunch at the clifftop restaurant under the awning with a gentle sea breeze was just perfect. The food was good enough, though limited in choice. Room was large and reasonably quiet once the Spanish had got their children to bed (at about midnight!). Breakfast spread was ample but I only ate the toast and cereal so cannot comment on the quality.
Service generally is weird, as I've noticed in other Paradors. The lady who served the evening meal was fine, friendly and natural. Service at lunch was strained, as though the waiter didn't know how to react if spoken to by a customer. Staff at breakfast were plain rude: speaking abruptly as though I were in some kind of penal institution.
As a one night stopover en route the Parador was excellent, but I wouldn't want to spend a week here!

We stayed in May. The setting is almost certainly unique place in the national park. The Hotel is the quite, green and ideal for to be the place to stay for a natural lover.
The atmosphere is calm and civilised and much more of the guests are wealth retired travelers.
You can access directly from the hotel to the sands beach, is wonderful.
The rooms are clean, spacious with minimised decoration. This is a perfect acceptable hotel for its price.

We have been here a few times now, the purpose always being to get away and relax. The hotel itself is just ok, but the location is fantastic, with amazing views and an endless beach just below. There is an indoor and outdoor swimming pool and we had a massage which was nice. We really enjoyed the food, both at breakfast and diner. There are some downsides which actually contribute to making it a 'get away' destination, not much in terms of activities and a poor wifi signal means you can focus more on relaxation!

Room Tip: We had room 59 which probably has the best views, however you are next to the cleaning ladies office...
