Yes the rooms are a bit tired and the kitchen could be better equipped. However, as a whole, the apartments tick all the boxes. Great location near beach and town; two great pools (especially one across road which is much quieter with nice garden around it); friendly staff (especially bar staff) and any requests were dealt with quicker. Apartments were cleaned frequently and were clean. Our little girl loved kids club and really made her holiday; so big thanks to Jenny at the kids club. Plenty to get involved in if you want to. Our little ones enjoyed the mini disco and then we headed off to dinner in Alvor where you are spoilt for choice. Found Alvor really good value; especially if you avoided the main streets. A real surprise was La Bella Luna at the bottom of the road. Doesn't look much but food was really lovely and children loved the play area.

Room Tip: Ask to be over the road

This is an average place and fairly low cost so you get what you pay for. The pool area was great including the bar snacks and ice cream etc you could get there. Good low cost salad for lunch and lots of sunbeds etc. Apartments were a bit dingy - mattresses were so hard we had to complain but to the hotels credit they sorted it out straight away and gave us new ones. We went half board which was a big mistake - the dinner food was pretty horrible and they wouldn't let us swap for lunch which is a shame as we been able to do that in previous hotels and the lunch snacks were good. We only ate in the hotel twice and preferred to go into Alvor where there are great places to eat. It's a good base, rooms below average and balconies were not great, pool area was good though.

Room Tip: You would want to ask for a sunny balcony.

Truly excellent and welcoming staff at reception and great cleaning and garden maintenance staff.
Poor maintenance (Kitchen cupboard doors and Bed Headboards loose- I fixed three doors and three loose Headboards). Poor parking availability. Poor TV channel selection. Gardens an absolute delight. Supermarket staff ( young girl ) rude. Restaurant Quinta os Arcos great place to eat with very obliging chef and very welcoming atmosphere. Great rubbish disposal facilities. Pool was unexpectedly closed when we were there. Mosquitoes very busy and ants absolutely everywhere although I don't at all mind the latter. Response to broken shutter problem almost instant. Noise from apartment overhead quite loud, NOT the occupants, just the transmission of noise. Not sure I'ld return.

Room Tip: Far (South) side of road, some apartments have view of sea.

Stayed here between 3rd and 10th of October having booked with Skytours. Flight was with Thomsons and both ways were very good with no delays. Transfer was about an hour and a quarter again without incident. The check in was very quick and efficient and we were allocated room 2607 which is quite close to reception over looking a side road and not too close to the bar. During our stay we were very surprised and pleased at how quiet it was. Now this maybe because the hotel was relatively empty compared with how it must be in summer but we certainly had no cause to complain unlike other reviewers who stayed earlier in the season. The accommodation was very large with basic but adequate furniture and were kept nicely clean by the cleaners. ( regular bedding and towel changes.) Now why not 5 rated ? quite simply the beds were the most uncomfortable we have ever encountered during our numerous holidays. the mattresses were old and you could feel every spring in them and a ridge down the middle which made you feel as though you could fall out at any moment!! we did manage to sleep but not as we would have liked and felt tired and stiff each morning. Having said that if the hotel could sort this problem out we would have no worries giving it a full 5 rating because, for what we paid, it was otherwise excellent. The walk in to town was fine and took about 10-15 minutes the beach a little longer , but a taxi from town was only 4 euros which was great after a meal because even in the evenings it was still quite warm. All in all a good value for money budget hotel.

Room Tip: away from the reception and bar area if possible because late at night the bar doors are open and ob...

I recently stayed at these apartments on a self catering basis with My family (3 of us) on an 11 night holiday!

The reception staff were friendly, and spoke extreamily good English!. Check in was uneventful (We checked in and was able to get into our rooms by 14:00 - Normal Checkin & Room entrance is 16:00 onwards - Check out is 11:00)

The rooms themselves are very basic with fairly outdated furnishings,
The kitchen was clean with average equipment (T-Towels supplied),
The bathroom also clean and replenished with towels/toilet rolls 3 times a week.
The beds are pretty comfortable IF you like a firm matress.(Extra blankets and Pillows are available) & Bedding was changed Twice during our 11 nights!
The Balconies are small, Just enough for 2 small plastic chairs & the ones we where in, you can see right into your neighbouring appratment from your balcony..No privacy

(the housekeepers where very polite and very efficient)

The Tv (Remote rental charge of €30 - Refundable) has 9 channels - Only 2 of which are in English - BBC1 & Sky news)
The room safe has a rental of €15 for key + €1 per day - (You only get the Key rental money back)
The rooms have Air condictioning (Remote rental charge of €30 - Refundable)
The laundry room is quite exspensive €5 per wash-cycle & €5 per dry-cycle - They supply the laundry detergent - Only one of each machine available so be prepared for a long wait.
The games room is exspensive €2 per games table - Half of the machines are out of order!
WI-FI - €1 Per hour on Reception side ( also has a really old slow.. SLOW computer - Better off using your smart phone / Tablet
WI-FI - Free If you buy a drink from the bar over the bridge
There is a childs playground and play club, we did not use these for Obvious reasons, but they both looked quite good!

The complex itself is clean and very family friendly..... BUT on boths sides of a busy main road connected by a high Uncaged bridge, There is pool on either side so you do have a choice if one is busy which is often the case,( Beware pool is really deep and Unmanned) ( Sunbeds are free to use), Both sides also have a bar selling reasonably priced drinks/snacks!

The main resturante I found was extreamily exspensive and has a limited choice. (we found a lovley little Bar/Resturante in Main alvor called "Annies" - Extreamily nice family run athmosphere, Great range of food and excellant prices).

On site there is a Spar shop - Beware It is exspensive - You're better off walking 10 mins down the road to the Allimarket (turn right onto main road from reception side, Go down the hill and its on the left (after the PINK Bungalow which is on r/h Side) , You cant miss it. ( Annies bar is behind this).. If you need a Chemist / Farmacia carry on walking past Allimarket - its on the end of the row - They speak English pretty well) If you want togo Gift shopping carry on past the Farmacia, Over the crossing, youll enter shop city - Also the Harbour and the long boardwalk is up there to. - Well worth a visit!

We stayed in the rooms to the right of the reception - EXTREAMILY Noisy, Busses in and out, Fast cars on the main road right behind us, Rowdy drunken behaviour that happens most nights from the people returning to their rooms after the complexes entertainment ends - (very loud music beginning around 10pm every night and goes on until around 2am.) after it does finish, you often hear people stomping around and shouting to eachother for another hour or two).

The beach was a fair distance down a NON lit or Pathed road - Would not let my teenager walk there alone at any time of day! - (The Appartments do run a bus to the beach twice dailey for the price of €1pp each way) - If you want to walk, go out of reception, Onto main road, cross over to road opposite, past alto golf, keep right, Past recycling bins, keep right and walk at side of busy fast road... you'll see and Icecream stand / Hut in a carpark, Turn left up onto a dusty white rocked road.. there you are on the beach! - beach is amazing, really worth the walk!!!

Next year we may or may not return to these appartments, if we do, then I will opt for staying over the otherside, Away from reception!.
Alvor is a beautiful place, Not alot for younge persons unless you book the trips with your holiday team (we booked the Coastal Boat trip with "Trigana sailing" which consists of two classic portuguese sailing cargo vessels), It was amazing, Very scenic and informative - Enjoyed it emmensley! - Highly reccomend!

Room Tip: Rooms over the Bridge ( Away from reception ) are much more peacfull
